I frequent the forums myself. Some years ago I never would have thought I would have because it seemed the forums were indeed as obnoxious as you read about. It's actually a lot better now, though - once upon a time I recall every single thread I glanced at soon degenerated into childish bickering and everyone tried hard to show they were better than everyone else.
Since I made a Gamefaqs account, though, all the boards I frequent are friendly enough. The only board I've clicked on that seems like a generally unfriendly place is the Dreamcast board - I've only clicked on it a few times but everytime I have there have been really heated arguments.
The boards I frequent are: NES, Genesis, SNES, N64, Xbox
Boards for individual games are a different matter, of course.
GameFAQs-What do you think of it?
Re: GameFAQs-What do you think of it?
I mainly go to Current Events (Love or Hate), GCN and N64. Those are not bad. Very civil in those last 2, but CE really is a wild card.
I think those who have been to NGG can agree that it is one of, if not the worst boards.

Last time I was on NGG was before the cube came out and I was told my opinion was wrong and that I should agree with someone else because they had been on the site longer. I am sure if I posted there now I would still be considered a "noob" even though I have like 3k karma.

Oh you sage you. But that is a fine example of idiocy on NGGfastbilly1 wrote:Last time I was on NGG was before the cube came out and I was told my opinion was wrong and that I should agree with someone else because they had been on the site longer. Re: GameFAQs-What do you think of it?
Game FAQs is for cheaters. Never checked their forums.
Honestly, I've checked gamefaqs maybe thrice for hints on obscure games where I just got stuck. One time it was for Ultimate Alliance. I played that game for weeks, stopped, then couldn't remember what the hell I was trying to do a few weeks later.
This makes me ask the question, how many forums do you guys frequent? This is my favorite forum out of the two I post at, and can barely find the time to post here on slack days. I couldn't imagine posting on half a dozen forums.

I mainly frequent GameFAQs and Racketboy. I really like the interface and community (well for RB at least) of the two. I do check and post occasionally at Digital Press, but those are the only 3 I've been to.Luke wrote:Game FAQs is for cheaters. Never checked their forums.

Gamefaqs is just filled with pretentious, annoying, and idiotic people in general. You can get modded for the tiniest of things. The newer boards such as wii/xbox 360/ps3 are pretty bad. The older boards for retro games are infinitely better.

Re: GameFAQs-What do you think of it?
I've been using GameFAQs for a long long time, it was fun to hang around LUE until the mass bannings took place, then we went elsewhere. I still visit if I'm looking up something for my mom or a customer at work.
