Re: Video Game "Finds of the Day"
i am always curious what people do when they find retro games sealed in the wild. so what do you plan on doing with them? opening them? selling them? keeping them sealed?dedalusdedalus wrote:
$8 each at Goodwill.
The best part is that they're factory sealed. They've all got the vertical seam in the back, and small ventilation holes interspersed on the front.
if you took a shit, please put it back

I'm ignoring the "but games are meant to be played!" argument. I can play all of these games by buying loose copies.final fight cd wrote:i am always curious what people do when they find retro games sealed in the wild. so what do you plan on doing with them? opening them? selling them? keeping them sealed?dedalusdedalus wrote:

That said, I'm probably going to hold onto them for a while, and maybe sell them if I need to finance a game-related purchase.

Bawah ha ha ha! Got these PS2 Japanese cool finds. Original Cases-Covers-Manuals-Warranty Card-Game
$2.50 TEKKEN TAG TOUNAMENT CD Game
Both cheaper then Gamestop. Not sure if dialog difference, but very cool of both these being the Japanese editions. On checking Tekken, unfortunately still has announcer voice in English. Not sure of any other changes such as different characters compared to U.S. version.
$2.50 SAMURAI CD game (U.S. is called Way of the Samurai)
As for SAMURAI, I think its a given as in the case of PAL SHENMUE 2 to get the game in Japanese. But unfortunately the dialog is just text on the screen not actual voice overs. turns out very little voices actually heard in the game except for screams. this is no TENCHU. Bah!
Two strikes, still glad I got Tekken tag though, both about price of a fat food lunch, need to diet anyways.
$5.00 SIDEWINDER V DVD Game
Couldn't find much info on this, Japanese exclusive turns out last of a series of three. Also on the PS1.
I ended up adding to the PS2 game list on Wiki myself! Still looking for PS1 TFX.

A quick flight reminds me of Dreamcast Aero Dancing. Supports Flight Sticks.

Not a bad haul of three games for ten bucks!
Man, I love HDAdvance with Flip Lid, install a breeze on these imports!
A Rant
How come all the import used games I buy here are pristine with original case, covers, manuals and even the little warranty card? Is it a stringent buyback policy or more likely the Japanese gaming culture tend to take better care of their collections? Even the Bookoff store takes care, puts product inside a reclosable wrap with price tag on the outside of the wrap. So much better then Gamestop crappy gummy labels with a silly anima cover in a generic DVD case.
A Suggestion

Frustrating when a great find is posted and no source is listed.

Lucky to get the newest of the series, I'll compare how it stacks to Ace Combat Series.EBay Seller wrote: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... _610wt_708
Sidewinder MAX - Originally released on December 7, 2000
Sidewinder F - Originally released on December 13, 2001
Sidewinder V - Originally released on August 21, 2003
Today's sale offering is for Sidewinder F which is the midway game in the series. Sidewinder is a realistic combat flight simulator which goes so far as to include a G-Simulator mode where the screen will go dark if you do a particularly gut wrenching move or barrel roll. That's the G-Forces hitting your onscreen pilot where he blacks out from the stress. The game also features limited caches of weapons, fuel, and chaff which add to the realism of the game as opposed to Ace Combat where the weapon and evasion systems are stocked beyond rational reason. A realistic damage model tracks hits taken by your fighter jet and reduces its performance accordingly. Sidewinder contains a total of 20 missions to conquer.
A quick flight reminds me of Dreamcast Aero Dancing. Supports Flight Sticks.

Yes, Japanese gamers are more likely to keep everything in pristine condition. I've bought used Japanese games that were listed as only 'fair' and were far better than stuff that people list on ebay as 'mint'.CRTGAMER wrote: A Rant

Using those little resealable bags is a Japanese thing too. Stores use that instead of shrink wrap like we do in the US. I've bought many new CDs from Japanese book stores and they came in the bags like that.
