I have two of the 3 you listed (the first game and last) and I agree with your assessment. The first game was ok but kind of a disappointment. I actually think the old Turtles 2 and 3 games on the NES were actually more fun. The final game was very good and a lot of fun to just smack people around for combos. Also, since this was one of the last GBA games to be released back in 2007, it makes one wonder how many were actually produced and if it will be one of those rare hard to find games down the road. People, pick this one up at Gamestop for under $10 while you still can!

great point. I meant to point out that it was one of the last games.

I have TMNT (the last game) and it's killer- and I'm not really a beat'em'up fan, either.

There are a few games that, to me, represent a real understanding of the GBA's graphical capabilities and play to those limitations rather than fight them. [another that is just on top of mind at the moment would be Minish Cap] TMNT is one of those games that is almost proud to be on the GBA, representing the 'comic come to life' art style to full effect.

TMNT also has the somewhat modern implementation of states/gear/"achievements" (more modern in the sense that this isn't an RPG) that are easy ways for a developer to extend replay value.
