Retro rumors from EGM

Post by RadarScope1 »

A few interesting tidbits from Quarterman this month:

- EA is making a new Road Rash
- Sega making a new Sonic (but what else is new)
- THQ updating the N64 wrestler No Mercy for WiiWare service

I hope the new Road Rash is a DLC title. It would be fun to play an updated version, but I don't want to pay 50 or 60 bucks for it.

Man...Road Rash. So many good times with RR3 on Genesis. Loved that music. For some reason, I never got into the vastly superior Road Rash on PC/Saturn/PS1, with 3d environments but 2d players. I've been meaning to give the two fully-3d Road Rashes a try on PS1, but they use some pretty shitty licensed music from what I remember.

Oh also, who has played skitchin'? It's basically an RR clone on roller blades, but you can grab the backs of cars for speed boosts. I really liked that one.

So long as they don't to Road Rash what they did once they obtained Burnout (added lots of annoying voice work and annoying real world music that made it feel more like Need for Speed, or something), I'm all for it.

Who wants to make a bet that the new Sonic will be for the Wii? I'm not certain but I believe Sonic has been a much better selling point on Nintendo systems so far than the others, and the 360/PS3 game was a flop..

not sure about the 3D road rashes, but I hated the 3DO saturn one. Generic race music, generic tracks, low draw distance, GLITCHY.

Yeah, the "3D" one was awful. The closer they can get it to the original Mega Drive games the better. maybe they should get the Burnout guys on it, as they haven't been able to make anything but Burnout ever since EA bought them out..

I remember the 3DO one being pretty cool.
But this was when 3DO was bleeding edge and I was in awe of the graphics.

the PC port is pretty awesome. nice, high resolution. also great soundgarden songs on that soundtrack (most of the other bands are awful though)
