Austin, Texas Rackeboy members' meet on 8/20/2010

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

It means that when we play Guardian Heroes VS matches at the meet, you will be able to play as ANYONE in the game.

I'm actually a complete Sega Saturn newbie so this Racketboy meet up is doubly exciting. I get to meet some like minded gaming folk in the area and try out some classic games that I've never even heard of.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Just got off the phone with Game Over. The 20th is going to be an awesome weekend. Game Over sounds very excited to host this!

Destructoid is holding a pretty large thing at Game Over on Saturday night 8/21/2010... So those of you who are coming from other cities may want to take this into consideration and decide if you want to extend your stay. Destrictoid's event will start at 6pm on Saturday and they are expecting 30+ to attend.

Ok, back to our meet:

I did the math in my head and from those who have said they are coming, I can put together a solid 10 people showing.

We will start setting up at 12 noon. If you want to help set up, be at Game Over at noon and we will start putting things together and testing stuff out. The meet/gathering/event/whatever will officially begin at 2pm. We will start breaking down at 6pm so that everything can be out of there by 9pm. After hours events can be discussed at the event.

I have said it's OK for store traffic to take part in the fun. Just watch your equipment and don't hesitate to put something away if you feel it is being abused.

Game Over has encouraged us to film the event. Hey, it's good business for their store!

TVs: Go ahead and bring them if you have them. Game Over is happy to allow us to use their Giant (think 32"+) CRT TVs that were in use during the "Classic Games Fest" summer tournaments. There are no stands so we will be gaming on the floor, but I doubt anyone will care. :D Epic Giant CRTs FTW.

I think we should have two of each system so we can rotate things out if people are sticking to a single game on a specific system.

Contact me through PM or IM (wip3outguy7 on both yahoo or aim) if you have suggestions or can offer to bring equipment.

Put me down for bringing a digital camera and a couple of chairs. I don't think I have any software to contribute (it's mostly Saturn, right?) but I'll definitely bring my moxy.

My current pile of stuff to bring is:

Ugly spare PS2, ps2 multitap, Taito legends 2, Gen collection, some sticks and pads.

Gen if needed?, SoR 1, crappy sticks, pads. I can bring a Game Genie if needed for imports.

13 inch monitor, 6 foot heavy cord x2, crappy power strip, 1 or 2 sturdy containers with stuff that can hold S-M sized monitors on them, 1 folding chair (sorry only have 1), Cam + gorillapod, some tools and cleaning supplies for games. I can bring some crappy PC speakers if needed.

Obviously we can't be selling stuff in the store, but if someone sees something on my trade list they really want I can bring it along for a quick parking lot haggle/car boot sale.
