Arabian Fight

Post by Gamerforlife »

Just wanted to put a little spotlight on this game. It doesn't have the most amazing gameplay and the music isn't stellar, but I love the unique visual tricks Sega pulled off here. Would have been nice if Sega could have beefed up the gameplay and improved the soundtrack for a console port, but that wasn't meant to be. If I ever create my beat'em up arcade dream room, I would love to have a cabinet for this just because it's so different. This what I always loved Sega for, trying new things

While I love Sega's brand of gaming very much, this doesnt do much for me other than give me a headache with the changing depth, I think it would be confusing to play.

I could see how someone would feel that way. Definitely not a game for everyone, but it is interesting. Whoever put these videos up seems to really have the game down, no deaths at all

Can you actually lose sight of your character? If so, that's pretty bad.

Wow, I'm actually very impressed, considering when I think that came out. What year did that get released in?

It's a cool effect, Arabian Fight has a cartooney quality that is very different. Seeing the animated characters in the foreground feels like playing a beat'em up mixed with something like Dragon's Lair. Apparently, it was Sega's answer to a Taito beat'em up called Arabian Magic(which looks pretty uninteresting from what I've seen of it)

There's some interesting Sega stuff on that system16 page. A Dragonball Z fighting game called Dragonball Z V.R.V.S. that looks sort of like Punch Out, but you control your arms and legs with motion sensors. This was way back in 1994, before anyone had heard of Wii, Kinect or Playstation Move.
