Wiiware:
Nectaris - remake of PCe/TG16 game Nectaris/Military Madness. It is a hex based wargame in the Nintendo Wars vein, but gorgeous is the best way to describe it.
Bubble Bobble - 4 player remake of the arcade original with a couple hundered extra stages
Contra

I know it's not exactly cheap, but I can't recommend Joe Danger on the PSN enough ($15). It plays a little like Trials, but it's just really fun, much more than I thought it would be. There's no demo, unfortunately, but at least look into gameplay videos or something.

For the Wii, I'd have to throw out MegaMan 9 and 10 obviously. Though one of the more underrated hits (to me) on WiiWare is Eduardo the Samurai Toaster. It has a pretty different art style that is kind of unique (to me) and if you're a fan of 2D sidescroller beat-em-ups you should probably enjoy it. Though I did find it pretty easy.
Collects promo gaming stuff, certain import games, hockey memorabilia, and other oddball things. (sig and avy under construction)
