I have a compnent version of that gamestop thing for my xbox on the old SD that seems to work ok but thats it. I wouldn't get something as posibly delicate as an s-video cable through that, and since the monoprice one was junk i want to make sure i get quality this time

This is a dedicated ps cable like modman says so maybe i'll just snag the official sony ps3 one. Would the official sony ps2 one work as well? Maybe i'll check target or walmart to see if they have any cheap ps2 ones. If not i'll keep an eye out for the ps3 one since you guys say it works with the PS1
PS1-PS2-PS3 all the same S-Video cable. Why not get that three dollar dedicated one on the earlier posted link? That Gamestop SKU could have 1st, 3rd party or the crappy multi-system cable in the bag. Nothing wrong buying used if a dedicated one system video cable, and if it doesn't work take it back.

Any cable with S-Video pins are fragile though, better to either route thru a switchbox or leave permanent plugged into your TV. I broke S-Pins on a Monster S-Video cable once (no spare PS2 Component ones and composite are crap), when son borrowed spare PS2 waiting for a YLOD PS3 repair. I hate S-Plugs that face straight down on LCDs!

My good PS1 cables taking a dive, not enough slack to lop in a new S-Video plug.

Robust cable, same thin pins inside.

EDIT The three dollar special, could be any brand of this sku in the bag:

If you have a Best Buy near you, check with them for a set of Playstation 2/Playstation 3 S-video cables. That's what I bought for my PS1 not too long ago. They are shielded with the gold plated ends, and of solid build and quality.

Can't really go wrong with gamestop, they have tons of used cables that people trade in when upgrading. Pawnshops are hit and miss, especially since you want a new one.

Multi-Console cables are pieces of shit. I bought a cable similar to the one linked (it was for PS2/XB/GC) the picture looks like shit and when I have more than one console using the cable, I get no sound. (The packaging lead me to believe I could do so.)

The problem there is that everythign is connected together, so the other consoles will be somewhat leaching the signals into their AV ports.
