I was thinking about buying that one too because when I see videos of it online, I think the music sounds nice, even though I have the Sega CD version. It seems like the Sega CD version replaced good music with good music of a different kind.
this game is a total asshole. I haven't been able to bring myself to play it in over a week. I'm pretty sure I was the one who nominated it, having never played it. Or at least I seconded the nomination. But whatever. It's so hard. I feel like I'm being punished when I make myself play it. But I still think the graphics are amazing.

Maybe sometime you could come back to it. I would;ve agreed with you this time last year, but when i made myself play it again recently, i loved it.
This game is indeed a bitch. But it's a pretty bitch. I have the Mega Drive cartridge but am playing it with the emulator "Gens" and using a Xbox 360 controller. Being able to save states has reduced the blood pressure lots!
Currently playing Splinter Cell: Blacklist

that's a perfect way to describe it.
I've personally always tried to attempt the Together Retro titles playing them without cheats or codes (well, actually I never really use cheats on ANY game) and without using a FAQ or walkthrough. In the past I've made some minor exceptions to the rule, but for the most part I always try to approach the TR games as if they were brand new releases, and gamefaqs doesn't exist. I think of it like playing the game when I was 8 years old, and the only "tips or tricks" available was the word of mouth of my friends on the playground (that's this forum). SO yeah. But seriously. Ecco's a jerk.

Don't worry. There are plenty of people out there who have gone through the same experience. They often suffer from disturbing dreams where they think they are being crushed by moving ice cubes.

Nice blog post, and I agree with a lot of it. I'm not sure if that version has the checkpoints that are so helpful in the Sega CD version. If it doesn't, then it's probably impossible to play the game.
