So I'm trying again through Trillian since I upgraded to Astra. I get further than I did with the old version, but I get this now:

I can't find the link to the browser based IRC again because I'm not on the default skin for the forum which still is missing stuff at the top like the custom search and whatnot.

So I signed on to the web IRC, then signed off. Trillian still telling me the same thing.

"Sorry, IRC client users must register first."

Anyone else got IRC working with Trillian Astra? I've tried with and without my password in the settings tab under 'server password'. Same result.

Don't try it with you password entered, then once connected to the server manually enter your password.

/msg NickServ IDENTIFY password (put your password where it says password)

then join racketboy

/join #racketboy

I have never been able to join with my details just typed into settings on any web based IRC.

I tried with and without. I still just get "Sorry, IRC client users must register first." It never gives me the chance to enter a password or join the Racket channel.

Try using Mibbit.

Server : irc.everywherechat.com

Username: Whatever you use

Then once connected follow my instructions.


Have you signed up and created and account with everywherechat.com? You cant sign in (obviously) if you have not.

Yup, I hadn't been on in months, that's why I was asking the browser chat address so I could log in there first just in case it had forgotten me. I was really trying to get the Trillian IRC working to avoid having yet another window open. If I can't make Trillian work (since I already have 4 other IM clients set up there) I might as well just use the browser IRC.

I appreciate the help though.

I think if it kicks you out right away it means that it doesn't even recognize your username as one in the database, so it boots you right away. Once you've registered once through the web portal it gives you a bit to identify to the nickserv before kicking you.
