Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I agree that some prices on things are insane. The crazy thing is games like Final Fantasy 7 which has millions of copies in existence yet fetches a decent price. Stuff like that is just hype though, it is not even demand. Look at ebay and there is tons of copies of that game for sale at all times. Supply is greater than demand yet it still retains its price.

Overall though games are cheap. Very few games are worth more than their MSRP or even hold that value. Most games can still be had for well under their original MSRP. No we don't find stacks of games for a buck a piece unless you get lucky at a yard sale but the games are mostly worth more than that. Even back in the 90's retro gaming cost more than that. Funcoland had a price sheet they always had on the counter you could take that listed the price they sold games for. Some of those prices were more outrageous than what you can get them for on ebay now. Back then prices were not really set by the market, I think they were just completely made up out of thin air.

I am selling a broken 360 on ebay and they will only let me charge $15 for shipping. I have a bad feeling about this. :(

I just got raped on shipping again this morning. By the time I have to pay the ebay fees I'll be lucky to have anything. After the stuff I have listed sales I am done with this shit.

Not really, I just put stuff up when I think it is something I am not really interested in or it just falls out of favor with me. Right now I am selling off the PC RPGs I was starting to collect. I do not want to go to the trouble of getting systems that will play older PC games and I have already poured over the manuals, maps and catalogs that came with them and I figure I can just play them via emulation if I want. And I only have so much space for stuff right now. :(

I have text books from last semester and this summer I need to sell too.

Bought a box on ebay for my beloved n64 Shadow Man. Said the box was in near mint condition with manual. That thing was in awful shape and no manual in sight. Balls.

Doh. Sorry I wasn't interested enough to take it off your hands right now if I was the only person you asked about it. :(

Nah, it's cool. :D I probably should have started that lower on ebay anyhow. I just get tired of the high shipping cost at the PO.

God damn ebay.

I mistakenly left positive feedback for someone by clicking on the wrong item/link and inadvertently left a positive comment for a seller who I have since opened a case with for non-delivery of an item. I immediately contacted eBay, and they sent me a chat invite to resolve the situation the following day.

Here for your amusement/anger is a chat conversation I had with eBay today. The grammar gets worse as I get worked up, but I stay fairly level-headed.

Initial Question/Comment: US Feedback

1:56:27 PM Customerdsheinem
hello

1:56:35 PM AgentChelsie Y.
Hello David and thank you for contacting eBay Trust and Safety Live Help, my name is Chelsie Y.

1:56:35 PM AgentChelsie Y.
And let me take this opportunity to apologize for the long wait time as we are experiencing high volume of chats at the moment. Thank you for your patience.

1:56:40 PM AgentChelsie Y.
How may I help you?

1:56:58 PM Customerdsheinem
I incorrectly left feedback for item ###########. It has not yet been received.

1:57:35 PM AgentChelsie Y.
Thank you for the information and I understand your concern about that.

1:58:21 PM AgentChelsie Y.
Just to make sure I understand your issue, you're contacting us to request removal of that Feedback. Is that correct?

1:58:27 PM Customerdsheinem
yes

1:58:48 PM Customerdsheinem
i will leave feedabck after the item is received or case resolved

2:00:16 PM AgentChelsie Y.
I see. Don't worry I'll be glad to look into this and see if the Feedback is eligible for removal.

2:00:26 PM AgentChelsie Y.
And aside from this one, do you have other concern that I can help you with?

2:00:42 PM Customerdsheinem
no

2:01:06 PM AgentChelsie Y.
Okay then so David, let me just check for that here regarding this information. Can you give me about 3-4 minutes, would that be ok?

2:02:10 PM Customerdsheinem
ok

2:02:16 PM AgentChelsie Y.
Thank you so much.

2:10:14 PM AgentChelsie Y.
Thank you for waiting. While checking your account, I also saw that you've been a member on the site since 1999. Please allow me this opportunity to thank you for being a loyal eBay member.

2:10:19 PM AgentChelsie Y.
Going back to your concern, we thoroughly reviewed the Feedback you reported and after reviewing the Feedback, we've determined that the Feedback did not meet our requirements for removal.

2:11:09 PM AgentChelsie Y.
I understand you would like to remove the Feedback you left however since it is positive Feedback.

2:11:40 PM Customerdsheinem
but i didn't recieve the item yet

2:11:48 PM Customerdsheinem
check the tracking number, it has not arrived

2:12:09 PM Customerdsheinem
i left it by mistake, and meant to leave that feedback for a different item (which I later did)

2:14:41 PM AgentChelsie Y.
I understand what you mean by that David however since it is positive Feedback, it did not meet our requirements for removal.

2:14:58 PM Customerdsheinem
that makes no sense

2:15:05 PM Customerdsheinem
you can clearly see that it has not arrived

2:15:07 PM AgentChelsie Y.
With regards to this, I strongly recommend that you post a follow up comment to the Feedback that you left.

2:15:36 PM AgentChelsie Y.
So that your comment on the Feedback will be corrected.

2:15:59 PM Customerdsheinem
IT HAS NOT ARRIVED.

2:16:51 PM Customerdsheinem
When I leave feedback I will most likely need to leave NEGATIVE feedback - I have a case open against this person - CHECK THE SUPPLIED TRACKING NUMBER

2:18:29 PM AgentChelsie Y.
I understand the frustration you're feeling that you mistakenly left the Feedback to the seller since you haven't receive the item yet however since this is a positive Feedback, the Feedback didn't meet the requirements for removal.

2:18:35 PM Customerdsheinem
A "follow up comment" will not be sufficient, as it won't change the basic status of the feedback

2:18:59 PM Customerdsheinem
Will this in any way affect the case I have open against the seller?

2:19:52 PM AgentChelsie Y.
No, Feedback will not affect the case that you opened against the seller.

2:20:49 PM AgentChelsie Y.
Because cases were reviewed in different way and Feedback is not the basis.

2:20:57 PM Customerdsheinem
So even though the seller has not delived the item to me, anyone who sees his/her feedback rating will assume that they have an error-free record?

2:21:19 PM Customerdsheinem
Doesn't that seem like a problem?

2:22:42 PM AgentChelsie Y.
That is why you have the "Follow-up" option so you can post a comment to the Feedback that you left. That way, other people on the site may see what you have to say and also to hear your side of the story.

2:23:06 PM Customerdsheinem
Right - MAY see - but everyone would see their "percentage" - which will be inaccurate

2:25:11 PM AgentChelsie Y.
I understand your concern. However, under a federal law called the Communications Decency Act, we're not legally responsible for comments posted on eBay.

2:25:15 PM Customerdsheinem
It seems like if the seller deserves a negative feedback, a different star rating, etc. than that is what they should get. Otherwise you are deciveing your customers about that person's record

2:26:24 PM Customerdsheinem
And the CDA doesn't enter into it!

2:26:48 PM Customerdsheinem
on what grounds CANY you remove positive feedback?

2:27:38 PM AgentChelsie Y.
We can remove Feedback if it's abusive or meets any of our other conditions for removal.

2:27:52 PM Customerdsheinem
Well positive feedback wouldn't be abusive

2:28:01 PM Customerdsheinem
on what grounds CAN you remove POSITIVE feedback?

2:28:12 PM Customerdsheinem
Perhpas there's something I am not considering which may qualify my case

2:31:25 PM AgentChelsie Y.
With regards to that David, positive Feedback cannot be remove. You can find out more about when eBay may remove Feedback at:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/fee ... moval.html

2:31:58 PM Customerdsheinem
Why would you waste my time then?!

2:32:10 PM Customerdsheinem
If that's your rule, why even let someone subit a claim?

2:32:19 PM Customerdsheinem
*submit a claim

2:34:52 PM AgentChelsie Y.
Opening a case to our Resolution Center is to helping our members if they have problems with their transaction.

2:35:50 PM Customerdsheinem
But the resolution center form requires you to explain WHY you are opening a case and it should not allow you to if you are trying to dispute something that cannot be changed

2:36:53 PM Customerdsheinem
What took you 8 minutes to check earlier?! You could have just seen the posiitive feedback in about 10 second and let me know that positive feedback cannot be changed

2:37:03 PM Customerdsheinem
simple as that

2:37:54 PM Customerdsheinem
instead of having an insane conversation for almost an hour since I signed on to this

2:38:21 PM AgentChelsie Y.
I do apologize if that take so long, our system is currently updating right now.

2:39:06 PM Customerdsheinem
How long does it take to look at a public webpage to see someone's feedback?!

2:39:43 PM Customerdsheinem
I would like eBay to compensate me for wasting my time.

2:39:56 PM AgentChelsie Y.
Since our system is currently updating, I need to wait for the information to show up on my end.

2:40:09 PM Customerdsheinem
they are compensating you for wasting my time, so they should compensate me for wasting yours

2:40:32 PM Customerdsheinem
with claims that shouldn't even be allowed to get to this stage becasue of a ridiculous policy that is in place

2:40:57 PM AgentChelsie Y.
I do apologize David but we don't do that.

2:41:13 PM Customerdsheinem
well if you are the "Trust and Saftety" department you have lost mine

2:41:31 PM Customerdsheinem
now I won't know if sellers might have accidentally left positive feedback

2:41:43 PM Customerdsheinem
(by a buyer)

2:41:52 PM AgentChelsie Y.
With regards to the Feedback that you mistakenly left to your seller, posting a follow up comment is your best bet at this point.

2:42:46 PM AgentChelsie Y.
If that's happens if sellers also mistakenly left a positive Feedback to buyers, same guidelines will also applied.

2:43:06 PM Customerdsheinem
but that isn't an option that promotes a "TRUSTING" or "SAFE" shopping experience for buyers

2:43:53 PM Customerdsheinem
becasue the seller's feedback is reflected at a higher percentatge than it should be even though they should have a negative mark

2:47:39 PM AgentChelsie Y.
I understand your point and I wish that in cases such as yours I could bend the rules. However, this is one area where eBay must be rather stringent due to the legal liability posed to us should we vary from this guidelines.

2:48:35 PM Customerdsheinem
"Trust" "Safety" and "Help" - congratualtions for failing on all three counts! That is an hour I will never get back!

2:50:22 PM Customerdsheinem
Please pass on to your superiors this chat, and should they see fit to thank me for bringing this problem to their attention I will accept payment in gold dubloons, real estate, or Sega Saturn imports

2:50:35 PM Customerdsheinem
Have a nice day!

2:50:59 PM AgentChelsie Y.
Thank you for using eBay, I hope you have a nice day too!

2:51:04 PM AgentChelsie Y.
Take care David!

2:51:09 PM AgentChelsie Y.
Bye now.

2:51:10 PM SystemSystem
Chelsie Y. has left this session!

2:51:10 PM SystemSystem
The session has ended!
