The Same Game on Different Systems

Post by droorz77 »

With all these cool topics today made by racketboy, I wanted to try and add one. I was a archiving my collection and I noticed how many copies of the same game I have for different systems.

Do you guys have multiple copies for or do you just buy the best version of the game on one console.

I have:

Doom - PC, Jaguar, Saturn, 3DO, Sega 32x and PS1

The Need for speed - PC, PS1, 3DO and Saturn

Gex - PS1, 3DO, Saturn

Night Trap - 3DO and Sega CD (grin)

Plus many others, like road rash, Resident Evil, etc.

I'm with you. I have the games on every system I can get them on if their discs. Carts is another story. I don't have any games on Genesis that I have on SNES or NES, although I do have Double Dragon for both NES and Sega Master System. I think that's my only exception.

I own all the Sonics on the Genesis & Sega CD, but also own the Sonic Mega Collection and Sonic Gems for Gamecube

I have Namco Museum for both the GBA and DS.

Skies of Arcadia for both Dreamcast and Gamecube

I have Street Fighter 2 for the Genesis and Saturn (and a Dreamcast backup of the Jap import)

I may have more, but that's all that comes to mind...

But usually I clean up my collection when I get overlapping ports buy selling one off unless there is a reason (sentimental or not) for me to keep one.

Yeah I can see what you mean about carts. I don't think I'd buy the same game for genesis and super nintendo. Most of the doubles I have are due to buying game lots.

Except for Need for speed, I wanted every version of that. (grin)

I dont have any doubles at the minute but after I've ammassed a full set of RE games on the cube I'll prolly get the other versions as well just to be complete. Other than that I'm just gonna stick to the best version of the game available since space is at a premium at our house.

on retro systems the bulk of my purchases are from thrift stores, I buy what I can get my hands on at a good price, doubles or not. I do ebay/amazon to get titles I can't seem to find in the wild, but usually only if I want to actually play it.

for my newer systems, i only get the "best" version xbox>gamecube>ps2. but then I usually have to get those at gamestores or the internet.
