two and a half man, gotta give Christmas NiGHTS some credit. Maybe a third? The soundtrack was awesome enough to warrant that.

In terms of raw amount of time well spent on a single series, unfortunately it's very predictable.

1) Megaman
2) Zelda
3) Mario

Metroid
Mario
Zelda

I too am pretty predictable it seems. What's funny about this list of mine is if you were to ask me my top five or 10 favorite games ever, that list would consist mostly of games NOT in these three franchises (the exceptions being Metroid 3 and either Mario 3 or SMW). But franchises is kind of a different deal because I'm considering overall quality.

i love Nights, but we are looking for best series with more than 3 games. Nights belongs in a world of its own.

Despite the "requirement" of 3 games, I'm going to put my number one choice on:

1. Diablo (with the expansion pack and the amount of hours you can spend in it, I think it should "count").
2. Zelda (it is just magic - and I haven't even played any 3D ones, including OoT which is reputedly one of the best games ever)
3. The Elder Scrolls (Daggerfall, Morrowind).

Ivo.
