N3II: Ninety Nine Nights... One million troops!

I like these spectacle fighter/hack-n-slash games but it seems N3II suffers from having an obligatory horrible storyline like virtually every other game of its calibre. This, or Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage? Choices, choices..

Games like this just aren't fun on next gen consoles. I think it looks like a throwaway game, and it doesn't look like they're taking this game to a HO NU REBERRR

PS - Good to see Mark review this. he's so awesome. I don't think I'd like this game, tho.

This is right up my alley. Will have to try it sometime. The difficulty with story is that they are working from scratch. The fact that Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors based their stories on real historical people and a famous novel made the stories interesting by default. You know nobody ever gives those games their props for actually being educational

This game is rubbish, even IGN gave it 4/10.. Video reviews are still not a replacement for text-based ones. I recently watched a review that praised Sniper: Ghost Warrior even though it's a pile of dung. Fncking amateurs.

IGN also gave God Hand an extremely low score. I'm not a huge God Hand fan, but many people would disagree with that score. Also, there is a built in bias against these games. As games in the Dynasty Warriors series continue to do well in the east, they also continue to get crappy reviews in the west

That's not to say that N3II is a great game. I can't comment on something I haven't played, but I don't place too much stock in so called professional reviews and I certainly don't consider IGN a high credible source

My brother is a huge beat em up fan with a focus on Dynasty Warriors-esque games, so he of course picked this game up. I tried it out the other night. It is honestly not that bad, though I do feel that it got somewhat repetitive, and I only played through the first two levels (a few hours worth of gameplay). From my relatively brief encounter with the game, I would give it a 6/10. Again, I would need a more thorough play through. I still feel that so much of these games are not really skill, but rather just playing enough to level up and thus beat tough areas/bosses.

God Hand, is, IMHO, a very fun game, so yes, treat every review with a grain of salt. Try it for yourselves. I might wait until it is $20 before I take the plunge.

The Dynasty Warriors series does require some skill actually, but it all depends on how much you want to get out of the game. They start out ridiculously easy, but if you want to get all the powerful items and weapons, levelling will be required but it only accomplishes so much. Getting good equipment often requires you to play on the hardest possible difficulty setting AND play the hardest levels AND undergo a series of self-imposed handicaps that are required to unlock whatever item you are going for. Some of the Warriors games even PENALIZE you for being to levelled by making the enemies MUCH stronger to compensate.

These are the type of challenges that bring out the depth of the Dynasty Warriors games and I can honestly say some of the hardest challenges I've had as a gamer involved getting certain weapons and items in various Dynasty Warriors games. DW3 in particular. At times, it seems almost impossible to get certain items without bringing in a buddy and going at it co-op

This is why it bothers me when reviewers say the Dynasty Warriors games are easy. A game is only as difficult as you choose for it to be. If the reviewer has no interest in getting the better items and weapons in the game, then of course the game will be easy for him because he's not actually challenging himself. It's like someone setting a game on easy, automatic mode on a Devil May Cry game and then complaining that the game is too easy

This is a terrible, terrible reason to dismiss it.

I played the first one and didn't particularly care for it for a couple of reasons, though I remember my biggest complaint being enemy units blocking by attacking. In other words, some of the bigger guys will completely ignore you hitting them if they're in their attack animation, which means you're likely about to get hit since you can't knock them out of it. And since said guys are attacking most of the time...well, it made it more annoying then fun to drop them. But that's just me.

And anybody who believes the Dynasty Warriors games are easy should go get Yue Ying's ultimate weapon in Dynasty Warriors 4.

Oh god, I remember hers being one that took me a lot of tries. You know I think it's a shame they got rid of those purple element death weapons from Dynasty Warriors 3. Considering all the work it takes just to get those damn weapons, I liked getting something overpowered in return. Certainly made getting some of the others weapons in DW 3 quite a bit easier.

The DW series is so damn hardcore when it comes to getting items and weapons. It amazes me how often I hear people talk about how easy they are
