Just got a model 1 genesis and I can't get any video or sound. I'm using a working A/V cable, although I've also tried RF. The AC also seems to be fine and the correct voltage. Not sure if there's a common fix, or if I'm better off picking up a new one.
Any help is appreciated, thanks.
Genesis Model 1 Video Problems
Re: Genesis Model 1 Video Problems
You got no video via both RF and AV cables? (sorry your post was unclear).
Try a NES/SNES power adapter with it.

Sorry to yell, but if he's in the US and uses a NES power adapter it will blow up the Genesis. US NES power brick puts out AC and will kill it. an US SNES won't fit either. See the power brick link in my sig.
Does the power light come on? Have you tried cleaning the cart slot?

The light came on. I think I found the problem: opened up the console to find another victim of big tobacco. Basically all the circuit boards had a thin grimy layer of brown tar.
Thanks for your help, but it looks like I'm going to goodwill to put down another $10.

If you give it a good clean and make sure the slot is shiny you might get it working again.Medical Dust wrote:The light came on. I think I found the problem: opened up the console to find another victim of big tobacco. Basically all the circuit boards had a thin grimy layer of brown tar.

I just wanted to make sure he didn't blow up the system. Seems you guys got completely different power bricks in PAL land for your older Nintendo systems.emwearz wrote:Sorry, 100% my bad.
