I'm 28, work in a Meat Dept. bluh! I'm into collecting, gaming, music, movies(isn't everyone). I've recently started collecting Laserdiscs when I found a ton of them at a thrift world for dirt cheap, these things are so cool! But I've noticed that buying them off ebay is not cheap(depending on the title) especially one in particular which I have a question about later if someone can help. I think I have a pretty descent collection of videogames, not nearly as impressive as some I've seen on here before but I'm happy with it. Maybe someday I will take some pictures and show them off. hmmm what to say, I will occasionally read a book from time to time, none of that twilight crap though, it's got to be something I'm really interested in, I am a Huge Dexter fan and it is KILLING me waiting for season 5! I really don't know what else to say, I honestly don't socialize much unless it's with family or certain friends of mine I've always been known as the shyguy, but I had to at least say something to you guys sometime cause I LOVE this site.Peace :P

Oh yeah, everyone has seen the nes Mario Bros. cart a million times, but have you ever wondered why they chose that pic of him jumping to his death spitting a fireball into the wall, I always thought that was kinda weird.

I recently started collecting Laserdiscs as well, mostly horror stuff, but what was the disc you had a question about

Welcome to all the latest members! Always great to have new members with their experiences and ideas. No worries if new or seasoned, everyone can contribute. You could modify your signature link if you want to, and show what systems you own. Also if you have not tried that blue links bar above in particular "Topics" and "Guides", Racketboy has provided a wealth of information on various systems.

ok, so I read that any laserdisc will play on any laserdisc player and unlike dvd, bluray, etc. that they are region free. I'm like SWEET! So I go ahead and order the Japanese version of BrainDead/DeadAlive off Ebay, and it's the only one I can find anywhere, and like I said before, not cheap, depending on the titles your looking for, especially imports. And from what I heard the Japanese LD of BrainDead is the only way to watch it fully unedited. So I'm all super excited about my buy and I go look up more information about laserdiscs and I read somewhere else they will play on any player, but WAIT, WhAT they won't play on an American T.V...this don't make sense, I can play a PAL nes game on a top loader to my T.V. but not laserdisc. Can someone clear this up for me? Am I SOL?

LASER DISCS are region free and more importantly macrovision free. NTSC or PAL are the basic two incompatibilities. You can't display both modes unless your TV can support both mode. Japanese discs which are NTSC will play fine on a U.S. player. For a real kick get the Japanese version of Planet of the Apes. Apes talking in Japanese a riot!

Just added this to my LASER DISC TRIVIA post.

Hey all,

I'm not a collector, but I enjoy old retro games and have appreciation for those objects I stay in love with such as my Dreamcast. I'm 27, currently playing COD4 & MW2 (like most  ) on PS3, Super Mario on Wii & Samba Di Amigo, Crazy Taxi 2 & Sonic 2 on DC and getting back into Donky Kong Country.

I'm also an Aussie and atm watching Family Guy, South Park, Futurama, Dexter, True Blood, Mad Men, Sopranos, Aussie Rugby League & Movies :)

BTW my gaming evolution... c64 (have), master system upgrade to > snes> playstation > dreamcast (kept this one) & ps2 > x box > Wii & Ps3

Favourite systems are
1. DC (beautiful machine)
2. Master System (The sonic era)
3. PS3 (COD4

Hey emayzd, welcome to the forums. :)
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes.

Hello, I'm Tibia. I'm something of a gaming pack rat, with a collection that spans from Atari/Coleco up to the Wii. I do some modding, mostly cosmetic, and I'm pretty decent with repairs. I'm in and out of several other gaming forums, and I thought I'd join here as well. Unfortunately, I'm returning to college in the fall, so my modding and gaming time will probably be sharply reduced. About the only other thing about me is that I'm a rabid X-files fantard. lol

Well it was one of the best shows ever on television. Just saying.

Welcome aboard.
