Re: I just bought a ps3, what games should I buy?
Personally I like games with trophies, it adds a new element of challenge to the experience.
Best Trophy enabled games
Super Street Fighter IV - As uncool as it is to call a recent game one of your favorites, I haven't played a fighter as much as this since Street Fighter 2/ MK 2. Balanced Rosters, Great Online, Super Cheap. The closest I've seen to a prefect genre game.
Batman Arkham Asylum - A good Batman game.... C'mon, you've been waiting years for this.
Littlebigplanet - It is impossible to not like this game
INfamous - Should get more love than it does. Very awesome game
God Of War Collection/ 3 - No brainer. If you haven't played 1 and two before, now's your chance to see what all the fuss is about
Uncharted - Start with this first, because it's cheap, and just about as good as the second one.
Fight Night Round 4 - Even if you don't like sports games, this game is nearly immaculate. Literally the best Boxing game ever made since Punch-Out. I'm not kidding. PS - the only downside is the trophy system. As impossible as you can get without being literally impossible. If you're looking for a challenge, get this, NAO!!!
Non Trophy
Soul Calibur IV - The amazingness has worn off a bit, and no game will ever top the og soul calibur, but still a solid game.
Virtua Fighter 5 - Possibly the deepest fighting game of the current generation.
Metal Gear Solid 4 - PS3s killer app. This is exactly what you'd expect out of MGS
PSN
Wipeout HD - Remember how unfairly difficult F Zero GX was? This is worse, but it's still great.
Wolfenstein 3D - 5 Bucks, Trophies, Perfect Port, Nostalgia Trip.
Mortal Kombat 2 - 5 Bucks, and it's MK2. The only downside is that the online mode works when it wants to.
Marvel Vs Capcom 2 - I WANNA TAKE YOU FOR A RIDE....... (Need I say more?)
Final Fight Double Impact - The pack in game, Magic Sword sucks, but it's a must get if you were disappointed by the SNES version
Super Street Fighter Turbo HD Remix - Despite the game title sound like a joke, it's a nice game, with nice online play... for the most part.
Gunstar Heroes - If for no other reason than M. Bison's doppelganger
Braid - If you like Platformers and Puzzle games, you will stab a guy over this game.

I don't have a PS3 but if I could afford one I'd start with, probably pick one up in 5 years time when they are under £100 :
Ninja Gaiden Sigma - Utter classic with extras not in the Xbox release.
Heavy Rain (not played) - Just looks plain awesome!
Resident Evil 5 - I think the PS3 has a special edition of this, with extra content? Not sure, but I loved this game to bits on the 360. Maybe not a classic like 4 but brilliant either way.

Honestly, I think there should be sticky threads in each section for at least the current-gen systems saying "which games people should have". I've lost count of how many PS3 topics about this there are in this board.

Would kind of make the whole site and its articles irrelevant though wouldn't it?CRTGAMER wrote:A tell me how to spend my hard earned money sticky?jfrost wrote:Honestly, I think there should be sticky threads in each section for at least the current-gen systems saying "which games people should have". I don't know, and honestly I don't care. Anything that will make these new PS3 game suggestion threads go away.

Were all entitled to say what we'd like but blatant shows of arrogance for the sake of it are not acceptable.
