Actually I don't remember if it's come up, but any discussion involving the key phrases "video game music" and "guitars" automatically leads to Metroid Metal, since it's so badass.

I'm a big fan of "The Advantage". They do only NES songs, but both albums are pretty stellar. One of the only bands that doesn't make every NES song sound like a metal shred-fest (not that I don't like shred-fests).

I like playing SMB3 underworld theme, Gremlins 2 various songs (NES) and Wizards and Warriors (NES) intro on guitar. I've also learned newer stuff like the FF7 battle songs and chocobo themes.

I usually hate covering music because, but for some reason I love learning videogame music.

I want to tackle the Crystal Hammer theme on the Amiga next. I might do a full studio version playing everything.

I'm not a big fan of shredding, especially not when it's the main style of plying in a song.

But I've been experimenting a bit with this type of thing. I recorded "Casino Night Zone" from Sonic, on the stylophone... :)
