My Sega CD model 2 has emotional trauma. Can you help?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

My Sega CD model 2 has emotional trauma. Can you help?

Post by ott0bot »

Hello all!
When I start a game it loads and then it says i need to initialize my memory and will not load until i do so. So then i go to the memeory manager and format the internal memory. Now the game loads as normal and I can save my game as normal. However when I turn off my system and come back i need to initialize the memory again. Then I have to format and I lose al save data.

Is them memory corrupt?
or Is there an internal battery i can replace (like the Saturn)?

Has anyone had this problem before?

Thanks! I figured there was, and I've looked everywhere online for it's fabled location to no avail. If you find any info it will be amazing and I won't have to set my Sega CD on fire!!

It doesn't say if that replacement is for a model 1 or 2, but it should be the same battery.
Thanks, i will give it a try. That's a very cool site and it could come in handy.

yeah, it does say SegaCd2. like, duh.

I succesfull replaced mine last night and no more RAM errors, very nice.

However, it doesn't tell you that you have to have a high watt soldering iron to remove the tack welds on the battery. Also, make sure you use a piece of cardboard/chipboard under the battery (the backing the battery came with works nice) and really tape in on tightly. If the battery doesn't make proper contact you will be wasting your time.

thanks for your help!
