Idk if you dumb retarded crap holes know this or not but the PSP doesn't sell!!!!
....I know, shocker right? whats that it isn't? The sales suck and Sony is trying to reach another audience other than the mature man with at least half his brain intact. Kids liked role model and everything Marcus has been on because the kid is freaking funny!! I'm not sure if you high minded 35-42 yr olds, who stay on this damn site noticed this because you think know a little something about games and don't do and any real shit to progress the gaming industry other than down everything that comes across your paths noticed this, but the kid is actually a very smart choice for the PSP Campaign. No, I'm not a kid you guys are just such shallow old dicks that, if you really looked at the past years of your life, would notice that YOU DID SHIT. It keeps getting better.
Re: Anyone else think the new "Marcus" commercials are lame?
Luckily modman and weekend answered this for me, but I will elaborate. My biggest concern is the build of the PSP with its exposed big ass screen and the fact that it runs actual discs(unless its a go.)Octopod wrote:Provide an example please.miked wrote: The PSP seems like its more for adults and older audiences, and I dont feel Marcus puts this point across. Sure you have your typical movie licensed and sports games, but most PSP games seem much more adult oriented or complex compared to DS games. Correct me if im wrong.......
With a DS I could toss it around and not really be worried about it, but god forbid you do that with a PSP. Not only is the design poor for children, these things are fragile especially with a PSP 3000. In that and the 2000 model they did away with the internal metal cage that held in the motherboard, LCD screen etc. and mounted it straight to the plastic case. Cost saving yes, but it makes for a shitty unreliable system in the hands of children.
Next, the games themselves. Like I said the PSP has your typical kid friendly games, but not very much in terms of games MADE for kids. The DS has 3 versions of Cooking Mama Vs the PSP has not one cooking game. Dont get me wrong Cooking Mama is a perfectly good game, but that shit wouldnt fly on the PSP especially with no touch screen. Also look at Square Enix's attempts)and yes I do mean attempts at PSP games. Remakes of FF 1 and 2? FF7 crisis core or Dissidia with a ton of charaters from before most kids were born? What 5 year old do you know thats up to date wit the ff7 story? Other games follow the same example like the Star Ocean remakes I recently purchased. I cant imagine your typical young kid buying Star Ocean, but hopefully this does happen occansionally.
Anyway, the DS is for everybody but the PSP feels like its for the "hardcore"
I put "hatdcore" in quotes because I dont really like that term.

Looks like a classic case of shallow old dicks vs. massive electronic penises.

Oh man, this is just pure gold.
<checks through the thread> Hmmm... looks like there are multiple instances of people declaring the PSP doesn't do well, especially since it has no idea what it's doing in regards to a target demographic.J.Norman wrote:Idk if you dumb retarded crap holes know this or not but the PSP doesn't sell!!!!
I.e. Sony is trying to reach an audience that will actually give them money. As previously stated in the thread.....I know, shocker right? whats that it isn't? The sales suck and Sony is trying to reach another audience other than the mature man with at least half his brain intact.
No, he's really not. Also, if you really take the time to read this sentence, it's not quite right. Seems like you changed thoughts in the middle as you wrote it.Kids liked role model and everything Marcus has been on because the kid is freaking funny!!
He's got us made, guys. We are single-handedly bringing down the video game industry. After all, none of us buy any new games, or pay attention to things like E3. We just stick to our good old SNES's and Saturns.I'm not sure if you high minded 35-42 yr olds, who stay on this damn site noticed this because you think know a little something about games and don't do and any real shit to progress the gaming industry other than down everything that comes across your paths noticed this, but the kid is actually a very smart choice for the PSP Campaign.
Using the same definition of "mature" as the video game industry uses. When did mature go from "acting in a responsible manner as befitting an adult" to "lots of blood and swearing"?He is young but been in mature movies like Role Model.
Remember kids, properly typing out your posts helps people take your ideas seriously. That give his a good amount of support.
You know, I had to read this a few times to realize that you intended "you did shit" as an insult. Usually it comes off clearer if you phrase it "you didn't do shit". You did shit tends to imply that we did stuff. No, I'm not a kid you guys are just such shallow old dicks that, if you really looked at the past years of your life, would notice that YOU DID SHIT.
Wait a minute, you just described the typical life path of someone who does something with their life (namely, avoiding screwing around in high school and getting a degree). Or are we in the bizzaro world where having a good job is a bad thing that causes you to lose street cred? You didn't go to parties in high school, maybe went to collage and did nothing with your lives.
<checks the thread again> No, I don't see anyone complaining about how Marcus is making decisions on the types of games Sony will license for the PSP. I might be interpreting everyone else's post wrong, but I think they're all talking about their distast for Marcus as, wait for it, the PSP campaign mascot.AND FYI u shit heads Marcus is only the PSP campaign mascot....... you idiots!!!! Hiya, 18 years old here former PSP 1000 owner and I actually miss the thing. After all there have been a lot of titles released since 2005 but only in recent memory and the majority of marginal to mediocre quality at best.J.Norman wrote:Idk if you dumb retarded crap holes know this or not but the PSP doesn't sell!!!!

I slaved to make the cash and stood in line for hours on the day it came out at the age of 13 in 2005 to get it and I loved it. There was only one problem. Well, you see for the first two years there were no games, then the accessories were insanely overpriced and later there ended up being nobody to play with thanks to crappy marketing and a lack of friends with one.
Sony fucked up by promising the moon and never actually having had a plan for the PSP to begin with.
Think of it this way: You spent $250 on day one for something and expect lots of games, movies, downloadable content, streaming video, a Gran Turismo game (That ended up coming out 4 years late), a camera, GPS, Portable TV and more. Basically an electronic Swiss army knife, a real jack of all trades portable.
Instead you end up with a crappy half-fulfilled promise that still costs $200 (with tax) to get in on.
The PSP should be $100 by now and in every single pocket out there. Sony basically made a portable PS2 with massive possibilities an ability to update and learn new things, internet connectivity, and some great hardware under the hood. At this point in time I was expecting to have dozens of PSP games, constant web access via the home button to my online networking portals such as posting screenshots and messages directly to facebook from the system as you play or having the camera facing your way and video chatting in a tiny window as you play, or dozens of other possibilities.
The problem was that this was all held back by Sony's inability to develop the PSP further thanks to their fear of replacing other projects they thought would succeed that were in the pipeline such as MYLO (Remember that dead horse!?) and their Walkman phones (A phone that play MP3's!? In 2007? No freaking way!) instead of just keeping one centralized focus on the PSP and it's attributes.
Therefore we've all got to deal with a mediocre at best selection of games as a whole, e-penis marketing campaigns, only a tenth of the stuff that Sony promised and a lackluster experience that has been trampled by Nintendo's DS family which is a great example of what a focused structured company can do when their minds are all in sync.
It's not us being dicks at the PSP and it's fans as most of as are or were at one time or another. We're just stating the facts behind all of the marketing and PR bullshit.

Look mate, we are not all in our 40's, in fact most of us are in our 20's and our age has nothing to do with our dislike of this kid. To be honest I don't dislike the ads anyhow. And while I do agree with quite a lot of what modman is saying(I guess a few years in retail will do that to ya) if I didn't agree my response wouldn't be to call the entire populous of the racketboy forums "dumb retarded crap holes" and "shallow old dicks" and also calling into question what we've done with our lives. That's just rude.
Now, you've had a pretty rough introduction into our forum with this and your attempt to get a dev group together that mostly met with speculation about your ability to get it off the ground. But I see no reason we can't start fresh. We aren't a bad group of guys once you've been here awhile.

We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

At first I thought you were joking. Then I thought you ARE Marcus, googled yourself and found this thread.
Now I don't know what to think.
On topic, all I can say is that Sony is ran by idiots. Even if this was the funniest commercial in the world, did they really think it would have such a big impact that they showcased it in their E3 conference? Really? It's just a commercial guys.
And yeah the kid isn't likable at all, and very stereotypical if you ask me.
Can't wait for Microsoft's Kinect commercial with the skittles girl. At least she was cute as hell (using cute in the cute baby sense here). Yes I am very very much a kids person.
