Re: Anyone else think the new "Marcus" commercials are lame?
Ok, I'm going to go straight for the harsh truth that's gonna make me sound like an asshole. But I don't care, maybe it's working retail that's made me jaded, but I see enough of it that I'm just plain sick of it all.
Sony is marketing to "Urban" Black people, Wiggers and "Off the boat" Hispanics. Why you ask? Well because these are the typical PSP customer. The retards that need the latest phone even though their current one is only a month old, the idiots that love having a massive electronic penis, the type of people who make you go "Sigh, what has humanity come to!?" you know, complete fucking idiots.
The average PSP consumer loves to buy the PSP, get one or two games and pirate the rest. Why just this week at work I had a customer who was dead set on the PSP Go even though his car, clothing and kids looked like they were barely staying afloat but as soon as I said it's not hackable if that's one of your goals he said "Fuck that shit!" and stormed out in a fit of rage.
Sony needs these idiot customers as people who actually have brains and own PSP's practice responsible budgeting and spend their money on games in a responsible and paced manner. Sony cannot afford to lose these retards as they're bleeding from the wrists in the handheld department. In the last two years working at my store I've sold maybe TEN PSP's and we even had a BRAND NEW PSP 2000 until March of this year.
It's fucking pathetic and Sony doesn't understand that swallowing that fucking piece of humble pie, admitting their mistake, removing the insanely restrictive policies to even get a game released on the system and trying to actively restart their acquisition of support from third parties would not only make them look miles better but would also give the PSP a much needed boost.
Frankly I'm sick of it and this retarded "Marcus" campaign is just another step in the wrong direction of ignoring the problem and hoping it goes away that Sony has long been known for.

I'm serious dude, the amount of customers who I talk to about PSP games only to get "My buddy's got a site to grab all the latest stuff from" or "It's $15 for only 30 hours of gameplay!? Fuck that." is ridiculous!
Not to mention that whenever I point out a good game to one of them they simply look at me and say "Man that Patapon/Metal Ger/Monster Hunter/Ape Escape/Final Fantasy/Disgaea?Gran Turismo/etc... etc... is cool, but my boy said that new Madden is 'da Junk, son!" I mean what the fuck is wrong with these people!? Can't they see that there are more than just three games that they can play for their system!?

ModMan, you do realize that you're kinda coming across as stereotypical southern racist there, right? I mean you might not be, but it does seem that you can't dissociate behavior from color, ethnicity or, at the very least, class...

I'm a mixed white/hispanic guy born and raised in New Jersey.dsheinem wrote:ModMan, you do realize that you're kinda coming across as stereotypical southern racist there, right? I know my stereotypes and I definitely know what I'm talking about. I said "Urban" Black people AKA "Yo man weez be rollin in the Caddy with the 22's!", Wiggers "Man fuck all 'O Yall's I'm's from da streetz!" (*peels out of upper middlle-class neighborhood in an escalade), and "Off the boat hispanics" "Eh man this PSP is the shit yo, you can play MP3's, go online, watch movies and play games! But I just got a new phone that does all the same stuff. So man just get that BestBuy credit card! You can like totally do it all on this but with a four inch screen! Four inches hombre! Just wait til the suckers back home hear about this!"
It's plain and simple, and scarily relatable on the hispanic side as I had a few members of the family on my mom's end do stupid shit like this quite often which is how I get a baseline opinion of idiocy for the minority mindless idiots of that demographic.
Are there smart, financially stable and non-retarded people in the demographics I mentioned? Of course, they make up the majority of people in each and every demographic I mentioned. I only pointed out the minority segments of each demographic in a crass manner to stay on those which the sale of the PSP is focused on.

Like the guy I saw yesterday that had a Droid Incredible, and when he got a text message is says "Droooiiiiid", BECAUSE HE DIDNT KNOW HOW TO FUCKING CHANGE IT FROM THE DEFAULT TONE!Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:he retards that need the latest phone even though their current one is only a month old, the idiots that love having a massive electronic penis,
It made mad that he had such a capable phone and new nothing about it. His electronic penis was at least a foot long. Coincidentally he bought a PSP game......... or at least I thought it was coincidence.
Yes the PSP is not the best handheld but it does have a few nice games. If I would have bought one at launch I would have been fucking furious over selection, but now I think its perfectly fine to own a PSP. I dont regret my purchase('S) whatsoever with the games available here in 2010.
Marcus is a terrible marketing campaign and I hope he doesnt last long. The PSP seems like its more for adults and older audiences, and I dont feel Marcus puts this point across. Sure you have your typical movie licensed and sports games, but most PSP games seem much more adult oriented or complex compared to DS games. Correct me if im wrong.......

90% of all PSP games are complex RPG's and violent action titles.Octopod wrote:Provide an example please.miked wrote: The PSP seems like its more for adults and older audiences, and I dont feel Marcus puts this point across. Plus the size, fragility and design of the portable is based around someone aged about 13-14 and older, not for a clumsy or younger little kid who is bound to drop it often or get bored of the games due to them being "too hard".

I think the DS only has like 2 or 3 Mature titles, doesn't it?
I know GTA: Chinatown Wars was one of them

Yeah, but Chinatown wars can get a free pass on this one. It was so damn good it's in a category all to itself.Weekend_Warrior wrote:I think the DS only has like 2 or 3 Mature titles, doesn't it?
