I just bought a ps3, what games should I buy?

Post by axlryder »

I just spent most of my spending money I've saved on a ps3 and now I'm looking to get a few games. Aside from a war themed fps and gta (two things I could never get any enjoyment out of) I'd like to know what games you guys think I really HAVE to get for the system. I have my eyes on a few, but since I'm limited in how much I can spend, I'd like to get all of your opinions. Try and pick 3 games you would recommend that I could get for around 100-120 dollars. Thanks!

those games are all really just playing to the niche crowd (though I'll admit to being part of that crowd). Valkyria Chronicles was definitely a game I had my eye on, but 3d Dot game heroes just looked like an amusing gimmick rather than a solid game to buy.

Demon's soul didn't seem like a very well rounded game, even though I love atlus. I'd rather have a great narrative with a slighter difficulty than die over and over again. Any reasons why demon's soul would be a good choice other than the brutal gameplay?

3D Dot Game Heroes (not a gimmick. If you loved the old Zelda games, or action RPGs in general, GET THIS NOW! 40$ brand new.)
Little Big Planet GotY Edition
Cross Edge or Disgaea 3 (if you like strategy RPGs)

also, I was trying to stick to PS3 specific games, in case you already own an XBox.

I'm pretty picky and I had a blast with Infamous. I need to have an evil playthrough soon. If you like Pinball, the Williams collection has a few more tables than the PS2 version and it is $10 new at Gamestop.

Disgaea 3 was definitely a game I was considering, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to pick that one up. If it's anywhere near as good as the first one, or just better than the disappointing second, than it should be worth it. cross edge, on the other hand, was a TERRIBLE game, and an atrocious attempt to garner more sales through the classic crossover gimmick that japanese publishers are so fond off. I know it could have been a really great game if the writers, devs, producers had just put some more effort into it. What I don't get is why they localized that mess and still didn't bring over namco x capcom.

As far as 3d dot game heroes goes, I did enjoy Zelda, but I still don't see how this game is any different or better than a link to the past outside of our hero gaining an inordinately large sword. The way I see it I might as well just pop in my snes cartridge. Am I just missing something with this game? Is there any other reason to buy it outside of nostalgia?

Uncharted 1 and 2?

I don't know I've never played a ps3 but those are the games I want.

personally i just got little big planet...and i honestly don't like it as much as so many have. demon's souls is one of my favorites. and i have valkeria chronicles too..and really enjoy that. but one game that wasn't mentioned so far: MGS4. i love the game to death personally. but this is coming from a fan of metal gear solid.

Yeah i didnt like little big planet much either. Valkyria Chronicles is a must imo. Also see Ratchet & Clank: A crack in time, very amusing, one of the best in the series.
