Thicker CD cases for Japanese import games.

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Thicker CD cases for Japanese import games.

Post by GagaMan »

Anyone ever noticed that there are quite a few Japanese import games for the Saturn and Dreamcast that have slightly thicker CD jewel cases? We're only talking a couple extra Milimetres here, clearly so these games' thicker manuals can fit in.

Here's my problem: I have a few 2nd-hand japanese games that have these thicker cases that are broken and cracked up. Does anyone know where I could buy some new replacement ones? I can only ever find the regular sized ones. Do they have a spcific name that would make them easier to find? Even better, can someone just link me to a online/ebay shop that supples them cheap? Thanks.

Do you happen to know which games have them?

I'm just wondering if there are any titles that are abundant and cheap so you can just grab the cases from them.
That's my technique for US Sega CD and Saturn releases.

The 1 Saturn title I have with the thick case is:

J. League Pro Soccer Club wo Tsukurou! 2

It seems to be a bargain title since Play-Asia has it for less than $5.

I wasn't suggesting to go out and buy them from Play-Asia for the cases. Just to show that it is a cheap game.

The games that have these thicker cases in my collection are:

SATURN:
Puyo Puyo Sun

DREAMCAST:
Capcom VS SNK 1 + 2
Fighting Vipers 2
Gulity Gear X
Net De Tennis
Pro Yakyu Team De Asobonet!
Samba De Amigo 2000
Sonic Adventure 2
Virtual On 2

According to the Sega Saturn Wiki, about 20% of it's games used these thicker cases, and quite a few Dreamcast games do as well, so they can't be that uncommon.

Don't suppose anyone has a solution that doesn't invovle buying other games then? I find it odd how thy could make so many games with these cases yet not sell replacements anywhere =(
