Hi all. So my PS1/PS2 controller to PC adapter which i have for years doesn't work properly anymore.
I found out that the problem is the USB connector. It loses the connection with the PC usb hubs most of the time. I tried all my USB hubs and its the same. Besides all my other USB devices are working properly.
Because i have a spare USB extension cable i thought to cut both cables, expose the separate wires inside and solder them together to ensure optimal connection between the two.
My only problem is that i am not sure which wires to connect together.
After some google searching i found that
Black = GND
Red = Power
Green = Data -
White = Data +
Do i just connect the same colors in both wires or a different connection is needed?
Connect USB Cable with a USB Extension Cable
Re: Connect USB Cable with a USB Extension Cable
If the cable has followed the same color rules as all the other cables do. Yes, just connect them.

Hopefully the wires are the same colors and assign. I've had other USB stuff in the past that was not. I'd try to do some continuity testing ot make sure first before you chop anything off.

If you already cut that cable, follow Hobie's advice with the electrical tester. Easy matter of matching Pin 1 to other end Pin 1 ,2, 3, and 4.
I wonder if your hubs have enough power or a driver issue to feed the controller adaptor? Maybe direct plug your USB adaptor to the back (not front) of the PC? Sometimes you might have to remove the extra USB drivers in Device manager. Hard reset then reboot the PC to recognize the right USB connections.
