Bottom line on the 360: NEVER stand it up vertically. NEVER move it while it's turned on, especially when playing a disc-based game.

Got it in the mail today (ups, actually) The curve or whatever near the power button isn't noticeable. It is very quite. The fan seems to get out lots of heat. when you turn the power on, IT IS AWESOME. sounds.

After playing it for about 5 hours Here are my impressions. The fan seems to vent alot of hot air out. If you put your hand up near the fan's vent opening it is really hot. This is good, because it is on the outside, not the inside.

I rather like the old black 360 and the slim ps3 entirely because they're matte. Making this thing glossy is just a bad idea all around.

New 360 Doesn’t Have Red Ring of Death:

System will give ventilation warning, shut itself down.

For people tired of seeing the Red Ring of Death on their Xbox 360 systems, that feature is now gone on the slim 360s.

Instead, the system features a red dot that appears where the power is. While doing that, the 360 will display "The Xbox 360 is shutting down to protect the console from insufficient ventilation" on the screen, as seen above.

Users will be able to turn the system back on after the 360 cools down and the red eye stops flashing. It may seem a pain to stop long gaming sessions automatically, but it beats losing a few weeks while the system gets repaire

so with that in mind, if i get a new slim 360 and i happen to be in the middle of a very important and emotional RPG/Sporting/Fighting/FPS moment and it gives me this notice ........

This is only if the fan isn't working/venting right. This would do this before you get too far into the game.
