which modern console doesn't come with an internet browser?
Does 360 not have one or something?
Mine doesn't.
Also, let's just agree that mouse and keyboard should at least be offered as an option for console players. Who cares about competitive online it's just a bunch of whingy twats with nothing better to do, they can always kit themselves to remain competitive.
dlmvii wrote:But how many people do you know that use a keyboard and mouse on a console, especially when it's hooked up to a television? You can't play with them on a couch or chair, and I don't think using a keyboard/mouse is ever going to catch on with console players (for good reason). And, to MrPopo's point, any half decent PC player with a mouse can probably beat the pants off the very good players with a controller
Can too. My gaming setup includes a computer, as my modern gaming television is a VGA monitor. Wireless mice and keyboards are very reliable these days (including high DPI gaming mice). A keyboard only really requires a lap and a high DPI mouse also happens to play on almost anything but clear glass, and if not a hard mouse pad would do the trick.
I'm not sure about mouse versus a pad. I like a mouse myself, but some people have incredible accuracy with a pad (as it's easier to keep a stick steady). It's speed versus sharpshooting, basically. I'd still give the edge to mice, since the really good mice can change DPI on the fly. Even without that ability, some people have steadier hands than others while rotation speed with a stick is always more limited.

This. My computer hooks into my TV and I play on the couch. It's a very comfortable setup and I get the joy of a really huge screen.

Agreed.

So since we're talking about mice and keyboards vs. controllers does that mean that nothing happened at E3 today? Or did Sony come out with a new revolutionary controller that has a mouse wheel and buttons and flips down to reveal a keyboard in addition to standard buttons and dual analog? I'm confused.

I guess I should clarify - you can, but very few do.
For most people, a TV is the gaming screen, and they sit back in a couch or something to that effect, and they use a controller. I'm not saying a PC/Mouse combo isn't usable on a console, but 99.9% of ps3/360 players just use a controller, which would be unfair to pit against PC owners with a keyboard and amouse
Unreal Tournament III on PS3 supported mouse and keyboard. You know what I did? I played it with a mouse and keyboard!
Yes, not a lot of people play PS3/360 games with mouse and keyboard. Maybe it's because... oh, I dunno, you can count the number of games that support mouse and keyboard on one hand?
Yes, people who play with a mouse and keyboard have an advantage over people who play with regular controllers. WHY DOES THIS MATTER? When you play Super Street Fighter IV, are you going to refuse to play with people who have arcade sticks? When you play Forza or Gran Turismo, are you going to tell people using a steering wheel to GTFO?
It's called working with what you have. Can't afford an arcade stick? Tough. Learn to play with a fight pad. The only difference here is that a keyboard & mouse are infinitely cheaper than those $100+ steering wheels and authentic joysticks.

In a world where people will report others for cheating simply for winning a single round of Puzzle Fighter II, you ask this question? The vast majority of online gamers are the biggest whiners in the entire world.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

If these are the kinds of people video game companies are trying to appeal to, then this industry surely is doomed.
