Convince me to buy a PSP

He asked for convincing!
Re: Convince me to buy a PSP
Since the original poster said that he was going to install a custom firmware, I said he should be able to weight in the risks involved and make his own decision
Otherwise, if he choose not to install any custom-ware and keep it "official," I will say go for it. The PSP is a good system, even when compared to the DS.
Choose either -2000 or -3000 for the light weight and better screen than -1000; buy an official extended battery as well as Logitech PSP case, where the bulge of the extended battery fits in the lower mold.
And the PSP does have a better screen resolution than the DS, and you gotta have Lumines, especially if you don't have it on PS2 or PS3, its more defined than Meteos for DS (thou both are from the same company
)
There are plenty of good games for the PSP, just ask around.

What the hell are you on about???
With my psp custom firmware i added a cpu manager plugin and i can watch movies for up to 8 hours with my phat battery... Best battery life EVER.

I agree if you're the type to buy new. My advice still stands if you buy used. I can score a mint condition PSP 2000 for under $75, a DS Lite for $60 off Craigslist in my area.Niode wrote:Exactly. The best option is to wait. See what the new ones do and then go for one of them.Pulsar_t wrote:Why buy both when you have new handhelds just around the corner?
Re: Convince me to buy a PSP
Yeah but the point is, when the new stuff comes out, it will drive the price of the old stuff down. Buying now is a dumb move. You might as well wait a while because the price will drop around 20-30%.gtmtnbiker wrote:I agree if you're the type to buy new. My advice still stands if you buy used. At the very least wait until after the press conferences.

Re: Convince me to buy a PSP
Thanks for the input everybody. I decided not to buy a PSP for now. The exclusive games don't really appeal to me enough to justify the purchase, my GP2X handles all my portable emulation well enough (except Playstation obviously) and I have my mobile (HTC HD2) to watch movies on the go.
Mostly harmless

It turns out that no PSP2 was announced (I expected this) and there's no ship date or cost for the 3DS.MrPopo wrote:At the very least wait until after the press conferences.

I was surprised at that. Especially with the 3DS showing. I guess they couldn't add 3D to it in time for the conference. I predict a November release date and £130 ($170) price point for the 3DS. It will definitely be announced at the TGS, as will the PSP2. So roll on September.
