Image Comparison Request?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I was actually thinking of mock-ups for some Gamespot blog post I wanted to write about games that had lots of ports so here's some I could suggest:
Doom
Mortal Kombat II
Primal Rage
Samurai Showdown
Myst
Those were the games I plan to highlight so far in this article, maybe a couple more. Comparisons would be great to give my readers a visual though.

Espio 1919, when is your topic going live?

And as much as I love Halflife I actually do not own the PS2 version, Ill look into getting it - even though it is a different storyline.

As for SF2, only three screenshots for the HD version is kinda weak. Meaning I would just have to throw those at the end to show what is coming. Though I may hold off on doing that one until I can get more images, release it around when the actual games come out. hmm Ive got some figuring out to do.

It would probably be better to put SF2 on hold for now until you have more material. Focus on other ones first.

Here's some of my other votes:
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Castlevania SOTN
Dead or Alive
Dead or Alive 2
Out Run
Daytona USA
Earthworm Jim
Final Fight
X-Men vs Street Fighter

Out Run, Daytona and Final Fight sound like good candidates.

I could go more indepth on Mario 2, stage by stage, though Final Fantasy, Street Fighter 2, Mortal Kombat, and Bubble Bobble have all been suggested, but if yall have better ideas I am welcome to them. Granted if you think this is a horrid idea, you are welcome to your opinion and I am open to other ideas.
To be honest of the ones pointed out I'm only interested in Bubble Bobble, and even then... FF is probably a good one, even if the best versions are somewhat obvious as well.

My thoughts on the issue is that, barring some exceptions (which exist), arcade games always have their best version in the original and the ports are usually watered down (again, some exceptions exist). In the exceptions case it is worth doing a comparison, otherwise not so much. This is just my opinion though.

I'm interested in figuring out "best versions" for games though, so the basic idea is good IMO. I'll see if I can think of titles to suggest (instead of just complaining about the ones that were suggested to youm which seems too negative) - but I'd look into console games that have had ports to other consoles, or been remade (Mario 2 falls into the "remade" section - games with ports you will find several in DC that were ported to Gamecube, Skies of Arcadia for example has some extra bits in the GC version right?).

But it's good to know what compromises were made on the console version and how the console versions stack up.

Daytona would be easy and fun. Except for capturing arcade shots. I've got every version of it I think.

Ivo I see your point, and I agree with it to an extent. So I will try to work with that and the other suggestions (maybe one of one then the other).

As for the suggestions, I discovered two important things today so most of these ideas are on hold for now. Ill work on a them as time goes, but this month is the 30th anniversary of Combat, and I just cant sit by idly and let that go by without saying something about one of my favorite Atari games. Then next month is the nefarious Nanowrimo, and Ive only tried every year since 00, so that will be crazy. As for December...just you wait for December.

Keep the ideas coming, but as forwarning they will only be worked on sporadically until next year. Any game, any system, I will try my best to get a working copy to capture from.

Ammendum:
I found out today that my PS2 is kaput, so now I must work on getting another before any ps2 ports can be compared...
