It's all Sanwa parts with Quick-disconnects. The AIAB will be identical, the only difference is a choice in layout and the container it's put in. To buy the parts alone would cost you around $60. The entire stick is only $40 on top of that. If anything were overpriced, It's the AIAB ones.
Identical? Not hardly, the construction is completely different and so are the options you have for parts and customization. Sure, if you specifically want those Sanwa parts and don't care about anything else the TE may be a good option, but almost everyone I've ever asked has said they prefer the circle gate motion of the Happ joystick. I mean if the TE is exactly what you want, go for it, but if I was gonna spend that kind of money on a stick anyway I'd rather put forth a few extra dollars to get the exact parts I want with custom artwork and layout. I mean, maybe I just played more arcade games than you, but to me there's just something more gratifying about playing on an arcade panel rather than a standard plastic one.
Do you really notice the difference between laminated wood and plastic during a game? If you don't like Sanwa parts you wouldn't be looking at getting a TE anyway. If you know the difference then you're going to know that the TE uses Sanwa.
Yes? Is that surprising? Plastic faces generate more friction that the polycarbonate coated vinyl does.

Yes you would be looking at the TE because your only options besides that with the Sanwa parts are cheaper sticks with what are basically just knockoff Sanwa parts made by whoever manufactured the stick. I don't know why stick manufacturers seem to think everyone just loves Sanwa style buttons with ball top square gate joysticks, but that's literally the only option available for any sort of quality outside of building your own stick from scratch or having someone do it for you. ALL Hori sticks are like that. The Madcatz sticks(that are of any quality at all) are like that. All the other sticks are either even worse Sanwa knock offs or are of so shitty quality that they aren't even worth using as a spare controller.

Yes it is surprising, I hardly move my hands at all when I'm playing (I don't button mash) and I've never had them stick to the surface of the stick. Think you're on your own with that one.

You still gotta touch the panel at some point.

I think I will be fine with plastic. I dont play to many actual arcade cabinets nor grew up playing them so I think i will be fine with what I ordered, provided it works. The other arcade sticks I own are a NES Advantage and the Sega Saturn one. The NES one I don't like because its waaayyy too small. The Saturn one is nice, but again i would like it to be a tad bigger, so the one I ordered looks like it will do just nicely.

Well considering your price range I was assuming you were never considering either.

What's your point? This is a complete non-issue.

It's more comfortable.

Is it though? Can you really tell when you're in the middle of a game? Oh damn, I would have totally pulled that 24 hit combo off if my stick was coated in polycarbonate vinyl laminate. Give me a break.

Yeah actually, I do. I could list specifics on why it's more comfortable to me but it doesn't sound like you actually care.
