Back to topic, I think Southern American countries are going to surprise us all in this world cup not talking about Brazil or Argentina they have been always pretty good at soccer.... mmm now hold on just got a question going to my head why in most parts of the world the sport is called futbol and here soccer hummm is it not to get confused with American Football ....

Yes, in the U.S. some (most?) people think that the only, the true, the real football is the one you play mostly with your hands. Go figure. And therefore there is another word for football - soccer. I have no idea where the word "soccer" came from though (after 30 secs I saw that it might have come from "association").
