Sega Dreamcast Mod Switch
Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the Dreamcast mod switch so that I can play Japanese games? I've tried various links through Google and either they don't work or they no longer have the switch avaialble. Or is there perhaps a better way to mod a console to play imports? I don't want to go the disc swap route.

I haven't seen DC mod chips any where for a while now.
You don't want to use the Utopia boot disk? I just want to ask, are you aware that it's not the same as "swap tricks" for other console? As in, you don't have to forcefully stop the disc from spinning and quickly insert the import/burn. The Utopia disc will stop spinning and notify you to change discs. Or do you just not want to go through the hassle every time you want to start up a game?

Or the DC-X if you are looking at original non-CDRs.

Utopia will boot real imports too. It works with Zero Gunner 2 at least.CRTGAMER wrote:Or the DC-X if you are looking at original non-CDRs.

Re: Sega Dreamcast Mod Switch
theres a 1-wire mod you can do on the bottom of the motherboard, that lets you use a disc to "flash" the region, so you can "perminantly" change the region of the console (you can always flash it back). I do this to my DC's, as the originals I play are all imports usually anyway.
regardless, a boot disc really isn't all that bad. But the method above is -kinda- like a switch, it at least lets you leave it on a specific region for however long you want. Plus, if you only play backups, you can set it to euro and boot with a blue swirl

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.

Re: Sega Dreamcast Mod Switch
I have a boot disc of some sort but I hate having to put it in to play a different regions game. I'd rather just permanently mod the console so that it will automatically play Japanese/PAL games. I don't believe I have the Utopia disc but it seems to work the same way.Ziggy587 wrote:I haven't seen DC mod chips any where for a while now.
