Have you ever tried to watch golf of baseball?

To respond to the OP, I doubt the US makes it out of the first round. I've yet to make my bracket but am going to try to tonight after work. Right now I don't have the means to watch the games live but might try to get some after the fact but before looking up the scores.

Being English I would like England to win but sadly I feel the Semi's will be as far as we go. Spain have to be the favourites but I would love to see an underdog win this year.

Portugal this year sucks, I don't think it will qualify for the next round. But maybe this is me rooting for Côte d'Ivoire.

@Ivo
People don't just look at the score at the end because they do think that the action going on at all times during the match is relevant. It might not be to you, but there are things people pay attention to that makes the game worth watching. But, I don't know, I don't see a point in American football and baseball...

Golf is probably much more boring, but I don't think it has nearly the audience that football, basketball or baseball has (I didn't check, and I would be surprised).

Baseball I don't usually watch, but from what I understand of the rules it probably has more "action density". Whenever the batter strikes the ball there is relevant action, and if he doesn't strike it 3 times he goes out. Right?

I realize there is much going on during a football game that people find interesting - I am just surprised they do. I can appreciate the tactical aspects of springing offside traps (for example), but how boring is that. Several times watching a long ball (I think that is the term) and then one of each team jumps to see who gets to head it to a teammate. Etc. Most corner kicks and free kicks are somewhat interesting. And even I enjoy seeing a great save or a remarkably aimed goal (strangely enough, I rather see a great save, which I think is also atypical)... But what minuscule percentage of time is that in a full game?

Guys, don't worry about explaining it to me. I know I just don't get it :)

American football is at least fun to play (not sure about watching since I've never seen a game in my life).

baseball...... I don't know why that game exists. I remember when I lived in the US, our elementary P.E teacher taking us out to play baseball. Everyone was bored, about 97% of us striked out, and the teacher had to get us a stand for the ball so we could hit it.

Most of the time players are just standing and waiting for everyone to get into position, or for it to be their turn to be batter.

IMO the only sports that are worth watching are football and basketball.

most other sports feel like a game. Fun to play, boring to watch. I tried watching professional volleyball for some time, but found it boring.

Heck I tried watching curling. boring to watch but seamed fun to play.

So true. As long as the match is carrying my attention, I could care less about the outcome. I mean sure I still pull for my teams, but Ive watched alot of noname club teams just because the game gets intense.

Thats it - Mario Strikers tonight!

Outcome is not really that important.

See, Brazil's 1982 team is almost universally considered to be the best group ever in the country. But it didn't win the World Cup. Actually, that is seen as one of the biggest national disappointments in history. However, for their (supposed?) brilliance, the 1982 team is still, to this day, the standard against which all Brazilian teams are judged - by the press and by people in general.

Edit: Not saying that I agree with this perception, of course, just throwing it out there...

While I wouldn't watch it on purpose, Volleyball is not too bad for me. I don't remember if they still have the rule where you only score if you are serving. Without that rule the game is practically always on. The only thing I mind in volley / beach volley is how blatantly cheesecakey the female uniforms tend to be (I feel the same way about tennis, as well) - but this is another opinion I expect to be strongly overruled by the majority.

As for curling, I find it immensely fun to watch for short periods :D

maaaaan. that rule has been abolished for years. it was really stupid and slowed down games a lot.

also I have to say this must be the most beautiful theme song of a sporting event ever http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgyJY9yndv4

although the lyrics seam to have been changed from the original :(
