What was the last movie you've seen?

Altered States (1980) – Maybe it’s because I’m a sucker for professors as protagonists, because the film felt like a cross between early Michael Crichton writing and early David Lynch filming, or because I found the premise so damn interesting – but I thoroughly enjoyed this cerebral sci-fi thriller. William Hurt is fantastic in the lead, and his internal struggles are palpable. The supporting cast is adequate, and aside from a somewhat cheesy scene late in the film (the one that ends at the zoo), I felt that film really holds up well for modern audiences. The directing is usually good – especially when any of the characters are “tripping” – and some of the imagery is downright harrowing. Recommended.

I read about this one on the Waking Life IMDb board and the DVD is queued for later viewing but I guess it's sort of comforting to know it's really that good. What do you think of The Holy Mountain (if you already watched it that is?)

I havent seen Alice yet, since Alice is one of my favorite stories from childhood I am very hesitant to see it. Because no matter what, it wont be more twisted then American McGee's Alice.

Umm... severed heads in a moat, dead jabberwocky, and all w/ a PG rating. And children's stories are always twisted. The third pig cooked and ate the wolf, for example.

And dsheim(sic), Hellraiser 1 is one of the best, but the sequel is better.

And I loved Altered States. The only other Russell film I've seen is Tommy, but I have Lair of the White Worm, but I have the DVD. And how's Lisztomania? I've only see the trailer.

Saw this one about a month ago. It's called Air Doll. It's a Japanese film about a sex doll who comes to life and explores the city of Tokyo around her unbeknownst to her owner. It's got a lot of social commentary on life . I thought the cinematography of the movie was excellent in encapturing the city of Tokyo on film. Soundtrack is great as well, being done by one of my favorite artists, World's End Girlfriend. Definitely worth checking out.

watched Lost Boys for the first time, usually movies that are as hyped up as this one tend to let me down, but I was very pleased with the amount of gore and comedy for such a mainstream movie- B+

Tron- this one was another very hyped movie that wasn't disappointing, but certainly not as amazing as I was lead to believe- visually the movie was outstanding, the plot was very standard, and the jargon was very nerdy, which i liked, overall- B-

Visitor Q- Miike does it again with this movie, totally gross in the most sexual ways, this is a porno, and don't let anyone tell you differently, was it good- yes, did it have an artistic aspect to it, yes--but ultimately Miike was going for shock, and he delivered- B

The Road- based off of my favorite books, by Cormac McCarthy, Vigo Mortinson made the movie--this was a wonderful adaptation of the book, it conveyed all the moods the book intended and it made me weep just like the book, don't want to give too much away, but you owe it to yourself to read this book and watch this film- A-

Saw VI- i might have mentioned this one before, but it was classic Saw, some sweet death scenes, a story I enjoy- and lots of gore, can't wait for the final instalment- B
