I just about went insane trying to figure out the double jump. It just felt like awful unresponsive control. The manual says press jump, then jump again. Where it tells you how to do the jump kick it says "at the height of your jump, press B to do the jump kick". Nope. The double jump is the move that has to be done exactly at the height of your jump, the jump kick can be done any time you're in the air.
Just for anyone else who gets this game and gets irritated by that. It's an awesome game btw.

LOL, that's funny. I don't know if I ever even read the manual
Yeah, it's an incredible game. One of the system's must haves

I'm actually working on a big ol' blog post about that game. It's (chronologically) my fifth favorite game ever, I tell you!
Maybe I can work that little factoid in, if you don't mind.

Yeah, just picked it up today. I used to rent it a lot when I was in high school but never bothered to buy it. Such a stylish action game. Probably the most stylish "Ninja" game out there, IMO.
When you get used to the controls, Musashi can fucking move. If you get the dash/attack timing down, you can take down bosses in seconds. It equals like 4 or 5 shuriken hits.

You should see Shinobi on the PS2. Long, flowing red scarf and the awesome tate cutscenes. Too bad some of the ingame graphics were kind of ugly thoughwip3outguy7 wrote:Yeah, just picked it up today. I own both it and Nightshade. I still think III is the most stylish.

I need to pick up shadow dancer. Came across that one the other day. I'd heard the name before but didn't realize it was a shinobi game.

Arg! Burn in hell, person who designed the obstacle course at the end of the game!
Re: Shinobi III manual is wrong
This isn't as good as Revenge of Shinobi. I find that that III is a lot easier, and more boring. It doesn't get difficult until the few last stages. The music isn't as good either, besides the surfing level, which has some of the best videogame music ever..
Sure Joe's got some cool new moves, and the graphics are great, but it takes too long for the action to get intense.
Shinobi on the PS2 is a game that i wish i got my hands on. It looks amazingly good, and i've heard the soundtrack, which kicks ass.
When is Sega going to come out with a new Shinobi game? It was one of their strongest franchises back then, surely it would be lucrative to go back to it. And i'm not talking about some mediocre Online store nostalgic rehash with generic semi-3d graphics.
Either a disc based oldschool Shinobi sidescroller, or a sequel to the Hotsuma storyline.
