I have never seen a 32X in use without a CD,
and I want to get one, but I want to know if it will work without the CD.
Thanks

Nope, the 32X works just fine without the Sega CD. You do need a passthrough cable to connect the 32X to the Genesis, though. Every 32X came with these, but they're a bit tougher to find now.

I don't have a sega CD. As long as you don't play the 32x CD games you're fine.

^ Right. Some Sega CD games were designed to take advantage of the 32X as well.
But for 32X games, you do not need a Sega CD for them to work. However, you'll need a power adapter and A/V cable for the 32X to work. Check out this page, I find it useful as a checklist of the parts that cable with the 32X...

I think the reason you always see pictured with both is that most people will collect a SCD before bothering with a 32X.

shit. I remember when SCD came out, it was pretty crazy just having those two big giant Sega bricks for the Gen and SCD. Wow.Dylan wrote:Indeed you do.noiseredux wrote:wait, so if you have a Gen/SCD/32X setup, do you need THREE g'damn AC adapters?
