Was there an Indigo Game Boy Player?

Post by noiseredux »

Sometimes I think about snatching up an Indigo Gamecube if I see one cheap enough with digital out so that it matches my 2 Hori controllers... but then I think that if there's no Indigo GBPlayer, then it would defeat the purpose.

There's an indigo Gameboy Player, however, it's a relatively pricey import.

Otherwise, why not just try to paint it indigo?

ah too big a pain. Then I'd need an Indigo IMPORT Gamecube (I think?). And I'm definitely too lazy to paint a console. Oh well.

I don't think you'd need to import a JPN Gamecube. As far as I know there's nothing to stop a JPN Game Boy Player from working with a NTSC Cube. It'd come with a JPN start-up disc that you'd need a bypasser for, but an NTSC start-up disc should work and get around that. Maybe you wouldn't be able to to play those GBA video cartridges, but.... who cares  ?

I thought the GBA Player Boot disc controlled what country.
Aren't all the GBA Players universal, that is besides the Panasonic Q version?
As far as U.S. releases, I believe there were silver and black only.

I've always thought that they did that so you wouldn't be able to record the video with a capture card, and I read that's why they did it somewhere, but now that I think about it, why would ANYONE want to record terrible looking video from a GBA cart when they can just record it when it airs on TV?

that is why they did it. And I doubt anyone would WANT to record it, BUT I'm sure it had more to do with if the option was there would have been different licensing costs involved or whatever.

I heard there was a way around it by using an Action Replay or a Flash Cart or something. Then again, it's not like it's worth it anyway. I've never owned any GBA Video carts but they seem like pieces of shit. Excuse the language.

Also, to answer your first question, I've seen some GB Players that were Platinum, and of course the orange one being sold on this forum. I've never even seen an indigo one unless the 3rd party ones count.
