What RTS should I play? A few friends and I need an RTS to play! We are pretty new to the genre, so we don't really know how to differentiate between the different ones. We want something that is:
- pretty new
- for PC
- not Starcraft

If you're not into world war 2 stuff Dawn of War is nice. Same company not as polished though. I haven't played Dawn of War 2.

It's already mentioned elsewhere that DoW2 wasn't RTS in the traditional sense. New RTS games are few and far between.
The Total War series is the last bastion for RTS fans. Empire: Total War might prove a bit tricky to master but it is the only true evolution of a tired old formula (no thanks to you Blizzard and your Starcraft narcotic). Also take a look at Supreme Commander 2 on Youtube you might like it if you're into Total Annihilation.
