Super Nintendo Graphics Question

Post by Silvermaverick7 »

Hey all - I've noticed that I get these white pieces on the picture of the game while I play it and was wondering if anyone knows what they are.
The white dots appear on any colored image and expand across the whole of the picture.

I've cleaned my games and the console.
This occurs whether I use S-Video cables or the original TV cable.
This occurs on HDTV and non-HD.
The console is from 1991.

This does not occur on all my games, only certain ones. Is this have to due with the quality that was used when they made the game?

Appreciate it.

Alien "Crop Circle" message? What game? A full not zoomed in screen shot?

I would say probably screen stretch if you are using widescreen.
Also large TVs tend to show all the pixels clearer and reveals all the fallacies of a given game.

Do the white dots flicker and dance around? When the screen scrolls do they move along with the graphics? Are they in the same place every time with a certain game?

When you move across the screen the dots do flicker and dance. They're not in the same place with all games because it doesn't occur in other games (Final Fantasy III, for example). Even Turtles, the title screen looks like that, but the gameplay graphics are not affected.

I haven't had games lockup, only sometimes a bit of effort to get them to start. Meaning, black screen when I turn on the power.

Yeah, even though you said you cleaned, I think there's still a little bit of stubborn corrosion somewhere on a contact in the system or on some carts. Do you have a bit to open up the carts so you can really see the contacts?

I do have one. What is the best solution to use on them?
