looking for a little comic strip

Post by lordofduct »

I am looking for a certain web comic strip. It's a bit older and is kinda odd...

For instance, one of the strips is a bunch of planets huddled together looking in a family album in space. Then it shows a picture in the album of a black dot. And the final frame shows one of the planets saying, "awww, we were so close back then."

another is rocket flying through space. Next frame shows him landing on a planet with this big shiny glass pool in it, and the astronaut is placing a flag. The final frame shows him landed on the helmet of a larger astronaut who landed on yet another larger helmet.

all of the strips are like this (not the space theme). They all are just kinda odd, no real big joke. Just strange little unique scenarios.

They're also drawn in this kinda classic illustration kinda look.

Eh, the other is in there somewhere. It's PBF, man. One of the best web comics out there. The book comes out next month.

As soon as I saw the title (before reading the post by Lord), I thought you guys would like that and I should come tell you about Perry Bible Fellowship. Naturally, it turns out that you already know about it!

I like some of his comics a lot, but some are WAY too messed up for my taste (which are probably your favorites :P)

My fave is the Sun Earth love one. Slightly messed up, but only so slightly.

Ok, you are not going to end the thread like that. Give us all the details about your porn site, now.

I thought you guys knew about the porn site thing I used to do, worked there for like 3 and a half years.

I handled content monitoring, technical assistance, account management help, and other crap for the adult webcam site www.ifriends.net

what does count?

10,000+ images a day making sure that what they were doing wasn't breaking the law. Most of the time, they were on the brink of breaking the law, but it was questionable enough that we would let it go.

I'd say 65% of what I saw in an 8 hour shift was borderline illegal
25% was tame and normal (as normal as porn can be)
and 10% was illegal and I'd suspend OR ban the member for

things that constitute illegalality:
children
animals
prostitution
fecal matter or urine
fisting (YES fisting is illegal in several states in the US)
slavery (not the fetish... real slavery, or indentured servitude. VERY common in Russia, Romania, the Phillipines and South Africa)
weapons
blood
menstral blood

and other things that really don't have a law about them... but really... WHAT the hell is wrong with these people kinda stuff.

...
thinks of the dreaded corn man... a nightmare I will never rid my mind of.

....
also, I'm watching "Extreme Engineering" on The Discovery Channel right now... they are playing Wumpscut as the background music, wtf?

Dude, that sort of exposure HAS to mess up your brain.

I don't watch pr0n at all (believe it if you want), but I think it at least will produce the same sort of effect on people that watching lots of violence does - it will de-sensitize you to "normal" stuff (using a violence example, if you are exposed too much in a war or something, you won't be impressed by regular car accidents or something relatively mild like that anymore).

I'm not judging anyone (and would rather no one judge me either, although I like to think I can handle it) - whether you consider that being more or less sensitive (or sensible?) to violence or sex is good or bad is up to each person.

I can see that benefits of either approach (or having some balance) can depend on the circumstances of course - you might get faced with some unexpected gory situation and not be as able to deal with it on one end of the spectrum; on the other end you may start to be (appear?) impersonal or a bit "off" to other people if you aren't bothered by certain things anymore.

I personally make a conscious choice to not expose myself to either (I avoid watching the news, for example) - but I'm sort of a choir boy at that I guess. Which is why I don't like certain comics in PBF, I guess (that was long winded!).
