I just read this. And thought I would share.

Yowza! There are some unhealthy beverages out there.


Also, I think it's funny that Mountain Dew started making ads directed at gamers proclaiming Mountain Dew as "gamer fuel". I suppose it's nice to finally be recognized for the vast amount of that yellow liquid gamers have swilled over the years (seriously, every time I have gotten together with other gamers over the last 20 years it seems Mountain Dew has been involved). Nevertheless, I don't really think sitting on a couch playing Xbox really requires a lot of "fuel". They should have stuck with their silly x-treem sports image. Jumping out of airplanes and doing the Dew seemed to work just fine.

Mostly water and tea, with fruit juices occasionally. I have mostly healthy eating and drinking habits these days. I used to love Mountain Dew and sodas but not anymore. The only carbonated beverage I have from time to time is Gingerale for settling my stomache

I try to avoid coffee too, but have it once in a while. I don't drink alcohol at all unless it's for social reasons. So I'll have a drink if with friends or family and it's offered to me, but never for my own personal enjoyment. I don't have much of a tolerance anyway LOL

Oh, Mt. Dew had a serious connection with me, my friends and gaming when we were younger.
Used to pick up 2 liters for each of us to stay up as late as we could in the summer.

I drink "healthier" now, thank god, but if I stray Dr Pepper is my poison.

Coffee before 5pm, beer after 5pm. It's rare that I'll drink a soda unless I'm eating fast food, which is rare in itself.

The person who writes those books seems to have a real vendetta against Sierra Nevada Bigfoot ale. Now I am not sure how many of you are 21 (if you live in the USA) or if you are familiar with craft beer, but the guy is promoting such tasteless swill as Budweiser and Michelob Ultra as somehow superior to a beer that is not only seasonally made and a completely different style of beer (it's a barlywine if your interested, something I doubt the author has ever heard of or tasted), but it is brewed by the honest small brewery of Sierra Nevada.

He also doesn't point out that the beer has 9.6% abv, making it about double the alcohol content of 2 "regular" beers, making 1 Bigfoot Ale a great better tasting alternative to drinking 2 Budweisers. The fact that he points out that the 6 pack has over 2000 calories is also asinine because anyone who drank a 6 pack of that stuff in one sitting would be seriously intoxicated to the point of passing out in a pool of his own vomit.

I could go on, but I think you all get the point.

I always carry my water bottle with me, and drink water as much as possible. That's usually what I'm drinking while I play video games. Occasionally, I might also drink milk, tea (unsweetened), or a beer, but video games are so distracting that I'm better off just drinking water.

And I agree with the beer Saturnfan's comment above. Occasionally the eat-this-not-that recommendations are pretty dumb.
