Well guys thnx tons for the help, i was all set to go to the hardware store and give it a shot, but i figured id call Microsoft to dispute the warranty for the hell of it. MS actually surprised me by honoring the warranty even though the website showed it was expired. I thin the fact that i mentinoed i am on my 3rd helped, i dunno
still though, i think im going to buy a new one and keep the one that comes back and a 2ndary one on the 2nd tv. I may get the splinter cell LE bundle since i know it will be the latest jasper. I should upgrade from the old 20g i have anyway.
does anyone know the best way to transfer all my data from the old HD over to the new one? Even if i dont get a new one im sure i will have a different console back which wont work with all the stupid digital right stuff even if i slap the same HD on it
I know they used to offer a HD transfer cable, anyone know how to get ahold of one of those? I also remember hearing theres some way to fix teh DRM issues with changing the console
Honestly teh DRM stuff is BS. Youd think with a system so prone to failure Microsoft wouldn't have made it almost imposible to keep your DLC and other items if you have to switch the console out >_<

They added the ability to use a USB flash for storage which I'm doing right now as I have a 360 I fixed and no hard drive, so you may be able to use that to transfer between the machines.

Yeah you don't need the HD transfer cable anymore thanks to the USB update. I transferred my profile no problems from my Premium 20GB to my Elite.

Re: *sigh* friggin RROD
but what about the DLC and all the other stuff? I heard theres problems with digital rights managment. Since all your stuff is locked into not just the HD, but also the core of your system, it suposedly doesn't work if you transfer your profile somewhere else. Im pretty sure thats true since like i said i remember DA origins giving problems if you werent logged into xbox live.
did they fix that?
and i know its stupid to buy another one when they're fixing my old one but its just a 20 gig hd and i figure the one i'll get back will just die again soon anyway since its a refurbished POS.

Windows 7 is reliable.
Sony had a bunch of problems with their gen 2.

You can transfer your licences from console to console via the Licence Migration tool on the xbox.com website.kenshin-dono wrote:but what about the DLC and all the other stuff? Re: *sigh* friggin RROD
awesome, they finally addes a fix for this... of course it looks like a huge hassle, but at least theres a solution now!
Re: *sigh* friggin RROD
It isn't a hassle any more than downloading the steam client on another computer and putting your username and password in. Takes 5 minutes.
