Jet Grind Radio Tutorial Problems.
Jet Grind Radio Tutorial Problems.
Well, I've recently started playing Jet Grind Radio again on my Dreamcast. I'd done the tutorial just past the 30 trick part where it asks you to do the Dash turn around. I know I can do it. All it requires is a dash and then pulling the analog stick back.. but for some reason the game just wont register the the turn around. Anyone else have this problem? Maybe I'm just missing something.
Re: Jet Grind Radio Tutorial Problems.
i believe you don't just do a turn around; it's press up and then back real quick. see if that helps.

Re: Jet Grind Radio Tutorial Problems.
Well I just played it again. Got a 60 trick combo so at least I wont have to worry about the 50 trick thing if I get to it. I still can't get past the turn around dash. I know I'm doing the turn around dash 'cause it's a different animation than if I were going slower. I tried taking your advice and letting up on the analog stick after a dash and then pressing back up and then down on the analog stick. I get the same animation as when I just dash and pull back. I don't understand what's wrong. Maybe I'm dense. =\ Thanks anyway.
Oh and I doubt this matters but I'm playing the DCRES release.

Re: Jet Grind Radio Tutorial Problems.
I had a lot of problems with those as well. Let me see if I can help...
The tricks in a row is a bit hard. The way I did it I basically had to do more than one "loop" in the tutorial area it is possible to go in a circle. from the 4 segments that make a square (but there are some tricky jumps to connect to the segment that is opposite the stairs). You don't need to do 2 whole loops but I think it would be VERY hard to get to over 40 without going.
As for the turn around, the trick is having the guy actually skate backwards.
They certainly don't explain what to do very well. I think you can do it by going forward and pulling backwards, but that doesn't work most of the times.
There is a way to pull it reliably though, and you will want to do that in order to pull a twisting jump.
I don't remember exactly what it is but I remember that it is very easy to do once you know what you need to do.
I *think* that you need to FACE the camera, skate towards the screen, and then push away and he will start skating backwards 90% of the times you try (the camera will then self-adjust I think). This is in contrast with having your back turned to camera, skating forward and trying to reverse him.
Try that and let me know if it works. If it doesn't I'll boot up the game on my DC maybe I still have muscle memory.
Anyway, if you can do a "turnaround" reliably, then to do the twisting jump you just have to be a bit lucky to press jump on the right timing.
The tutorial on this game is rather hard. The game itself is easier!

Re: Jet Grind Radio Tutorial Problems.
Thanks a lot Ivo. It was saying hit up and then down, but it actually wanted me to hit down and then up. :-\ Anyway I got it all figured out and didn't have much of a problem with the combo part. (Actually on my winning combo I got as high as 118 just going round the loop.) Now I'm going to finally start on the game, hah. Anyway, thanks again.

Really? I must be doing it wrong then.Vhaeos wrote:Anyway I got it all figured out and didn't have much of a problem with the combo part. (Actually on my winning combo I got as high as 118 just going round the loop.)
I managed to some 70 or so and to do that I went around the thing at least twice before missing a jump I think. How do you "squeeze" more tricks into the same lenght segment?
Ivo.
Re: Jet Grind Radio Tutorial Problems.
The loop on the tutorial is infinite, so long as you can keep hitting the jumps/billboards. I think I went around almost 4-5 times before I fell off. Not sure.Ivo wrote:Really?
