I wouldn't say so... Japanese is f'n hard and anyone who says otherwise is full of it or they learned growing up. I know about 6~700 kanji right now (plus a lot for names) and I still feel helpless here a lot of the times.
I grew up speaking 5 languages and Japanese is still hard for me.

Actually 7 languages + Japanese... I only say 5 'cause the other two are really half-assed (that and I haven't spoken French or Spanish in over 10 years).

Japanese is among the hardest languages to learn for native English speakers. Chinese is either slightly harder or slightly easier, depending (maybe harder to speak, easier to write). Vietnamese is probably the hardest to learn ever, period.
