Looking for a video capture program

Post by Ivo »

Hi,

I thought some of you guys would know one. I want to record stuff just as it is going on in the screen, somewhat like Print screen, but in motion. Is there a small, simple, and possibly freeware program that lets me do that? The sort of uses I'm thinking about is leaving a collection of "tutorials" for my parents on how to do simple tasks, or even just crudely catch videos I like from say, youtube (I don't care much about quality :P). It doesn't need to be able to record from "full screen" stuff like games (although that would be a nice bonus, it's not what I'm aiming for).

Ivo.

sometimes some of the programs don't like certain things going on.

Especially directx draws. If you want to video capture just desktop stuff, just about anything will work. If you want to capture video playback... you have to restrict your choices a little more.

tunebite will capture the videos playing.

If you want to capture anything using directx, you need to restrict your choice even further. When I want to capture video of videogames and the sort I use Fraps.

Description:
Taksi is a desktop video recorder application. It can be hooked to most applications/games (via GDI,OpenGL,DirectX) to record as an AVI video all that you are doing. It is based on the VFW api's at a low level and can use any of the installed video codecs to encode in real time (if possible). This is an open source project that can also be found on sourceforge.net.

Or this one...

Description:
AutoScreenRecorder 2.0 Free is a completely free screen recorder to save your screen activities into video files. It is free for unlimited personal and business use. It has no expiry date and can be distributed with free of charge.

Free Download: Download AutoScreenRecorder (From Video Capture Programs)

Hello,

To capture video from PC screen I use CamStudio http://camstudio.org/ is free and open source. I use it mainly to capture emulators videos. For instance, I created this one: using CamStudio.

To capture youtube video, I use http://www.keepvid.com to download the video in flv format, and then I use FLV Player http://www.martijndevisser.com/blog/flv-player/ to play it in my PC locally.

Hope this helps.

Best regards
