so, it's memorial day weekend and i finally have some well deserved free time! i've NEVER played final fantasy 7 before, and it's been on my to-play list for some time. does anyone think the game is beatable during a 3-day weekend? i may start playing tonight (thursday night) as well to get a head start and a feel for the game. i played and beat ffx about 6 years ago, so i don't imagine it'll be that hard to understand how it works.

any suggestions? things i should avoid?

Yes, but you're gonna need to go 12 hours each day. And you'll likely have some *epic (spelling corrected) fights because you'll be under leveled or evenly matched with some bosses. And since it's your first play through you'd most likely have to use a few guides or cheat in order to do it in three days.

And you're gonna miss all of the side stuff.

Not worth it in my opinion. Take your time and enjoy it.

I think my first play through of the game took ~45 hours. Each successive play through I maxed the clock at 99:99. Best of luck if you go ahead and try!
NES | SNES | Genesis | PSOne | Saturn | N64 | Dreamcast | Gamecube | XBox | PS2 Phat w/HDLoader | PS3 Slim| Wii
GBA SP | PSP-1000 | WiFi-iPad 16GB(Is this a game system?) | Modded PS1 | PS Vita 3G

This is going to be challenging, but the math works out. It took me 75 hours, some side-quests included, on my first and guide-free play-through.

So as long as you just play through the core game without talking to everybody in the towns, it should require 40-50 hours.

Still, 40 hours of gaming in 72 hours is gonna be taxing. I'd suggest having adult diapers and a gallon of espresso on hand.

You would think a game as long as FF7 would have a clock that goes into the hundreds. :?

for your health and self dignity I'm going to have to say no.

Unless you use a hacked save, just so you can see the story.

Doable but insane.
Keep us updated if you go for it. I want to hear your insight of the game as you face sleep deprivation.

you can clear the game in 24 hours of gameplay or so if you don't worry about sidequests. It's pretty easy actually, FF7 is one of the easier games in the series imo.

ok, well damn... one of the things i like about rpgs is exploring things thoroughly (especially towns) and talking to people more than once. side quests i like some times too, so a 3-day rampage of ff7 may be a problem. besides, i have some plans on sunday so i wouldn't be able to sit for 72 hours straight in front of the computer.

another game on my must-play list is metal gear solid... never played anything but the demo! (though i've played through the original metal gear several times)... is metal gear solid beatable in a 3-day weekend?

also, i'm changing the thread title since ff7 seems like a bad candidate... i guess i'll shuffle through my list until you guys can help me determine a good game for this weekend

MGS is definitely beatable in a 3 day weekend I'd say.

At most, it's about as long as maybe your average Zelda game. In fact, I plan on doing that myself sometime soon.
