Best video game endings.

Best video game endings.

Post by Yackom »

I finished Portal last night and I surprisingly thought the ending was great. After which a friend and I into the conversation of which game endings where really great and we had a complete blank, I could think of a lot of bad ones but not many good ones.

What do you guys think? Which games actually had good endings?

Any ending that lets me continue playing after the ending. I always want to go around exploring and checking of the changes I made to the world during my adventure.

Another World/Out of This World. One of the first games out there with sophisticated cutscenes and the ending was just as cinematic as the rest of the game.

Some days I'll suggest Final Fantasy 7, some days I won't.

Yeah, don't. It's pretty standard as far as jRPG endings go.

"out of this world"s storyline all together was very fresh and new when it came out. And still hold's pretty strong today as videogame storylines go. (keyword... VIDEOGAME storyline)

I like the strange anonymity of the whole story. It's kinda like reading a short story by Ray Bradbury... you just meet these random characters, in a bizarre world, and at the end it feels like the story told exactly everything it had too.

Thinks about "All Summer in a Day"

Sadly, I haven't beaten very many games. I usually tend to either lose interest or get frustrated by difficulty before finishing them.

However, even thought they were cheesy, when I was younger, I couldn't help but look forward to seeing the character endings for Street Fighter 2. Learning more about the characters background (before the Internet and Wikipedia) was a thrill for me. But I was pretty disappointed by the generic "boss" endings for M. Bison, Sagat, Barlog, and Vega on Championship Edition.

NES Tetris
Game mode "B"
Highest speed + level = one of the greatest endings ever. Mario, Luigi, Link, Kid Icarus, Metroid, Donkey Kong, Bowser, all doing the Tetris theme, good times.

I've beat the old gameboy ones on every mode, some weird aliens/germs get picked up by some kinda spaceship. I thought that was pretty funny back then.

Wow, I can't think of too many great endings. Hmm. Terranigma's is one of my favorites. Can't forget Mafia's either. Maybe Lufia 2 although I can barely remember it these days.

Mario 2, it was Newhart all over again...
Windwaker had one of the most epic final battles and satisfying endings, to me atleast.
Any SCUMM game, namely Monkey Island.
