I wouldn't hold your breathe on getting a Jasper. Microsoft usually replace with the same model that you sent in. With the exception of the Xenon which you get an Opus in return (no HDMI). So if you send in a Zephyr, chances are you'll get a zephyr motherboard back.darthmunky wrote:Awesome! I won't need a new power cable will I? Another question: They delivered my Xbox today but I was still in bed when they arrived and I just got up as the truck was leaving. They didn't leave a notice on the door or anything. Can I go pick it up somewhere today or do I need to wait until they bring it again tomorrow? (Or do they even?)

Analogy of Slim, Sony wouldn't let me swap fat warranty free exchange to slim without additional fee. Dummies would rather spend more on repair of Fat exchange. Hopefully I'll get a decent one on the third go.Niode wrote:Yes every Xbox you buy brand new will be a Jasper now. Which is a 150w PSU and 65nm CPU AND GPU. I have a Jasper Elite and it runs cool and quiet for hours on end.darthmunky wrote:I sent in my Xbox 360 Elite last Monday and I was scared they'd send me a white one. But I'm pretty sure if they did send you the wrong model, you just call them up and give them the serial number from your old one and it will say what model it was.
QUESTION: Do newer made Xbox 360s have any different or better hardware than consoles that were made in 2007 or earlier?

Even though zephyr is out of production? Strange.Niode wrote:I wouldn't hold your breathe on getting a Jasper. Microsoft usually replace with the same model that you sent in. That's a very good idea, I shall do that.Niode wrote:Give them a ring. It's a free phone number. Then, if they will send you a like for like as in another halo 3 xbox 360, then get get them to put it in writing. You're covered in case you get a standard 360 in exchange that way. If you don't get anything in writing you don't have a leg to stand on unfortunately, since their policy is exchange like for like it doesn't necessarily guarantee that you'll get the exact same model back.
I think I'm going to have to wait until I move in two and a half weeks to send it off as well, which is even more of a bummer. And I'd just gotten back in to playing it...

They'll have plenty refurbished. Trust me.darthmunky wrote:Even though zephyr is out of production? Strange.Niode wrote:I wouldn't hold your breathe on getting a Jasper. Just hope they get you all the info you need. I'm still waiting for them to send me shipping info for my 360 after requesting it multiple times over a year ago.

Re: Sending in a Halo Xbox 360 for repairs.
Well, my 360 came in today and I think it is a Jasper because the production date on the back of the console says January, 2010. That confirms it right?Niode wrote:They'll have plenty refurbished. Trust me.
EDIT: Actually it doesn't say MFR Date, it says Service Date. I don't know if that means it was refurbished or if that's just what all Xbox 360s say now instead of MFR Date.

Service date is when the motherboard was refurbished. Doesn't necessarily denote what kind of motherboard you have. New Xbox 360s still have MFR Date. My elite bought a couple of months ago has MFR Date on it. They put service date so it's easy to tell that the system has been refurbished without opening it up.
What does it say the power supply rating is on the 360? (it's very small writing on the bottom left of the sticker) 12.1A is Jasper.

So you have one of those boards depending on whether it has HDMI or not.Falcon (late 2007)
- 65 nm CPU
- Bigger CPU cooler
- 175 Watt powersupply / 12V rated 14.2A
Opus (mid 2008)
- No HDMI output
- Replacements for Xenon repairs, 65 nm CPU
- 75 Watt powersupply / 12V rated 14.2A
