The upside of all this, of course, is that used PSPs can be acquired for dirt cheap (depending on where you live of course).. What's the track record of the UMD durability, both the drive and media? Is it easy to make your own dumps?

the media really really good since they come in plastic cases (not the game box). Don't know about the drive though

Well, this is a problem with all portables, not just the PSP. In fact, my distain for portables was a big reason I held off on a PSP for so long - I hardly played my DS, so why bother?

I'm glad I finally did though. May not be many games, but the ones that are there have gotten a ton of playtime already.

Yeah, this is one of the reasons I finally decided to get a PSP. I think I paid $110 for my PSP-2000 with Jeanne D'Arc. Not bad, if I do say so myself.

Well yeah but when so many games for the PSP have better versions on either the PS2 or PS3 why bother?

You don't have that option on the DS.

I wish I did have that option on the DS. At least the PSP lets you plug it into the TV and experience games the way God intended.

I've been waiting for a DS Player for as long as the console's been out. I understand it's a tad more complicated than the Super Gameboy or Gameboy Player, but seriously, I want to be able to see my games.

Doubt it'll ever happen. Current Gen cash cow are Digital Rental Management downloads.

Oh man, that is so clever. Since DRM usually stands for Digital Rights Management, but what you've done is taken the acronym and changed it in order to express your dissatisfaction.

I'm with Kotaku on this one. I regularly buy PS-Wii-60 games, but havn't bought for DS or PSP since hacking / buying a flashcard. Can't begrudge these firms for trying to protect their investments from the likes of me!

Oh yeah, and the PS3 fanboys... they are the reason why sony can be arrogant and are right to be!
