Where do you guys buy your game bits?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Works well, had the 360 tool as well which was a plus.
Oh dear. I have that Zoozen set. It's cheap and crappy. The tool for opening a 360 case is convenient, but several of the bits are rusting even though they've always been in a dry AC environment and the gamebits are total crap. I thought it would be cool to have a tool set in 1 case that was all for game tinkering but it definitely wasn't worth it.

The dark bits are from EQ. The bottom silver ones are from that Zoozen kit. I've used the top ones a lot for at least 6 years. I think I've used the smaller silver one twice, and never have used the silver larger one. It looked that shitty when I got it.

I bought one of the lower cost sets from an Amazon Power Seller, been a while so can't remember the seller. Perhaps going that route might guarantee you a good set.

hmm sounds like you guys have had good luck with the electric quarter? Thanks for the heads up on that thinkgeek one, those look like junk

The electric quarter ones look very close to the ones i linked to on nintendorepairhut
http://www.nintendorepairhut.com/repair ... plies.html

I actually emailed them and they are sending me out one of their high end actual screwdrivers at no charge, which surprised me, they have good customer service. I'll test it out and see if it works. If not i may go to the electric quarter stuff. Has anyone had a BAD experience with those bits? do they actually LAST?

the newelectronics one i linked too looked interesting
http://www.newelectronx.com/proddetail. ... mm-gamebit

but i guess no ones tried those?

btw, is it just me or do genesis carts seem to fight you when you put them back together? NES carts were smooth as butter, but genesis ones never seemed to want to go in straight

They don't look quite as good as the ones I have, but the question is whether they're hardened steel or not. The fact that they're chromed makes me suspicious.

The Genesis screws have wider and bigger teeth, so it's easier for them to start cutting a new path through the plastic. Plus when screwing a NES cart back together, the bit is in that cylinder holding it straight. When screwing anything plastic back together, turn the screwdriver counterclockwise with minimal pressure until the screw drops into the channel that's already been cut. Then tighten and you'll usually put the screw back where it was instead of cutting the plastic more and getting closer to stripping the hole. It is usually easier to get it back in straight when it hits the old channel.

well they were garbage, the genesis one stripped out after less than a dozen carts and is useless, and the nintendo one stripped out too but i can still kinda use it. (btw dont trust that site, it seems they dont list negative reviews, they didn't post my review on it)

hopefully someone can help me out by pointing me in the right direction, i really want something thats going to work
Do you use a powered driver? Best to use a hand screwdriver with extra downward pressure to break the screw loose.

the newelectronx ones are great and last over time and nintendorepairhut is crap because they dont fit way down into the cart and sometimes the teeth are miss formed. if you use some of these bits you will have to cut the hole in the cart to make them fit, so watch out for that. thinkgeek looks like they are from Taiwan or foreign made or something. no substance in those bits at all

it cheaper, at least i found getting the 100 set from newelectronx with the gamebits and add the handle - all for free shipping is cheaper. all under $20 bucks... if i remember correctly

http://www.newelectronx.com/proddetail. ... it-set-100

ive used those bit and they claim they wont strip out, but i dont use mine in a drill. i always use a hand screwdriver... if you use a drill then they might strip out, but there is nothing you can do about the miss formed ones, they suck from the beginning. but if you get some good ones with great teeth on the head then make sure you use a handheld screwdriver, that is how they normally last. if you have too try a lower powered hand held motorized drill, but dont expect to the bits to last on high speed LOL

anyways found this commercial or ad for the aforementioned company, hope it helps

tnx guys the newelectronix stuff sounds decent.

Nintendorepairhut actrually sent me their japanese made screwdriver since i had so many problems and it works GREAT. Seems to be good quality. Maybe i'll try the newelectronics link if the nintendo bit strips out down the road
