Basically they still advertised the hell out of their (Very crappy by the way) wireless NES controllers even after they had sold out of their limited to a few hundred or thousand (can't remember) quantities two years prior.

Like Samson & I mentioned above their product quality was meager at best and they charged a premium for crappy worthless tech that actually broke or didn't work with more games than it played.

Basically all they did was say they were the best and superior to even the real consoles their fake stuff was based on and frankly that just made me really hate them after a very short span.
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS

I like the 360 controller but I can't consider that since it's expected in the current generation.

I picked up a wavebird in a group sale off craiglist and didn't think much of it. Thought about selling it. Thankfully I didn't, later when I was playing through pikmin again I tried it out and loved it. The weight and feel just work.

I really like the wavebird as well. It has great ergonomics and battery life.

I also like the Wii remote from a traditional controller viewpoint (D-pad, 2 buttons). The rumble is good.

I'm definitely going to have to go with the Wavebird, despite it's disappointing lack of rumble. I have 4 of them plugged into my Gamecube at all times! :D But the Dualshock 3 comes in at second. Even though it doesn't have great battery life, and no sleep mode, at least it's rechargeable and has rumble.

While I do like the GameCube controller, I tend to think that the Xbox 360 is the best modern controller. It really works well with your hands and is great for FPS. There is no denying the d-pad sucks though...

My vote is going to the Sixaxis. Why not the DualShock3? Well, I don't care about rumble, and I love the light weight of the Sixaxis, it's so comfortable.

The PS3 controller does have a sleep mode; it is located in System Settings > Power Save Settings There are two options; one for system standby and the other that Auto Turns off controllers after 10 minutes of inactivity :)

My vote for best controller is the Wavebird... I remember the day I got it testing the thing to see how far it worked. I tested it walking around the outside of my house and talking to someone on the phone testing it as I walked down the street
